Converting Old VUE Models for DAZ Studio?

Is there any way of Converting Old VUE Models for use in DAZ Studio?

I would like to know this too - without having VUE any longer. (So, loading in VUE, then exporting is not an option). Man, I had so many Cornucopia 3D models for VUE!  It would be awesome to recover at least some of them.  I knew you could load Poser models into VUE, but never had any luck bringing VUE into Poser/DAZ.  If anyone has a solution I would be eager to learn of it!

LOL, I couldn't do it when I had Vue, so I would say no chance in hell cheeky

most limiting program I ever used

only way would to get someone who owns all the extra modules needed to try and do it for you and then I think it was limited in what exported

Funny you should ask that, actually.

I got email from e-on Software today saying that they're expanding the functionality of their Creator product line. Creator is the pricing/feature level that targets (wealthy) hobbyists rather than professionals or millionaires, and comes with some restrictions. Today's email was to let me know that they're relaxing a lot of the restrictions and giving Creator-level users access to features that were formerly part of the Professional and Enterprise packages.

The possibly-relevant part of the announcement is the line that says that Creator level users will now have access to:

Export of all scene elements with or without baked textures and animation, including EcoSystems, atmospheres as HDRIs and volumetric clouds as OpenVDBs (VUE)

That certainly sounds as if you ought to be able to export models in some more or less usable format (probably Wavefront OBJ at a minimum, perhaps Collada or FBX?)

The question, of course, is how well it will work. This feature will be supported in a to-be-released version of the software, so it's not easy to say exactly what it will be able to do and how well. But it's worth keeping an eye on.

I doubt you'll probably want to sign up for the full year's subscription just to export your models, as last time I looked Creator was running about $200/year. On the other hand, they regularly have sales that drop the price by anything from 30-50%. If your models were really valuable to you, maybe a reduced-rate subscription would be worth it?

There's only 1 model I need converted.  The old version of VUE I own most inconveniently won't open on my MacBook Pro.

Is it possible to export as an object from Vue? From memory different levels of Vue allowed different things. But if you can export an object and then import into Daz it should work. You might have to work on the textures though...

Yes, you did need the different modules to do different things. I had pioneer. I don't think I have it currently downloaded though to check.

Okay currently installing Vue 9 pioneer version. Luckily I have a zip file tucked away.

On the version I have you can save object but it only saves to .vob files.

Edited to add can't seem to find a way to convert from .vob files to object. I seem to remember being able to though.

I need to have a look for a very old program I had and see if it does.

I have the VUE 8 COMPLETE that includes the EXPORT module. The spookiest thing is that I found the screenshot that I made of the installation serial numbers and I purchased VUE on October 11th 2010 - EXACTLY  12 years ago to this very day October 11th 2022.  I haven't looked at any of the VUE material I have for years.  What kind of impossible coincidence is it that EXACTLY 12 years after I bought it, I'd try to open a VUE object file?  It's an OMEN of something.  Freak me out (as I used to say when I was 10 years old)!!!!!!!

    Definitely an omen.

Lucky you having a complete version. After doing some more searching I think that might be the only way to do.

I'm having problems activating my version despite a serial number. I'm going to have do some research.

So perhaps eon is the mob I need to contact about activating the software?

The latest versions of VUE are available from the new website:   E-on Software Store - Home of VUE, PlantFactory and PlantCatalog Software
