iray shader preset

This question might seem insanely noobish to most of you but I need some help here please. I am using a 4.20.0.17 daz studio version because I want to install content manualy and to a specific location. Now I don't know what I did wrong but I don't know where  to look to find and install iray shader  presets. When I click surfaces - presets - shaders they are missing. If I use connect and click Install tab it just shows stuff that I bought in daz store. I can't find which program has iray shader presets.

Check the way you have installed the shaders, manual installation instructions attached.

  • Thank you for the reply. For some reason my connect library is installed on C disk. My content is on E. I reinstalled daz and same thing happens.  In your installation instructions your connect library is installed on E disk. Changing connect library path to E disk does nothing also. I am completely lost now lol

You can change the location of the Connect library in Content Directory Manager, but I would not use the same folder as is used under DAZ Studio Formats.

Anyways, the Connect library is used for content installed within DS, and they have their own folder structure, so in no case they will be installed to the same locations that are used by the external installers (DAZ Central and DIM) or what's used for manual installation.

If you plan to install your content manually, or use the external installers, you are better off with not giving DS your login credentials to the DAZ site - Logging in to DS is only needed when one chooses to use the internal installer (DAZ Connect) within DS to install content.

  • Understood, thank you for advice. But how do I find iray shader presets and install them?

  • The Presets tabs all use the Content Management System - if you install manually but using the original locations within your content directory then you need to reimport metadata to populate the database (Content Library pane option menu - the lined/hamburger button in the top corner or right-click the tab - select Content DB Maintenance, seelct all in the next dialogue), if you change the locations within the content directory (not just the location of the content directory) then you will need to set up new metadata (categories, compatibility, and content types).

  • Thank you kindly. I will give it a try.

  • Thank you kindly. I will give it a try. Is this going to erase what I have in library?

  • It won't affect the file-based views (Daz Studio Formats, Poser Formats, Other Import Formats) beyond adding the metadata tags. Reimporting metadata won't remove exisiting metadata, you need the Reset Database option for that.

Sorry for the late reply, I was at work. Problem solved! I didn't have Default resources installed. I downloaded the 4.21.05 version and carefully checked all the needed files  and now it works fine! Thank you again :)
