What about a 1-way suggestion box to Daz Content Creators?

(Apologies for the long explanation.)

I've searched throughout the forums for a long time for a methods of occasionally sending a suggestion to a content creator, to no avail. I know (because I'm a content creator myself in Blender and ZBrush, and occasionally Daz) that for very good reasons content creators don't want to muck around with fielding hundreds of odd questions, complaints, and whatever. That is as it should be! CCs need to be free from all that. But I have often thought it would be great to have a 1-way suggestion box, like you might find in a small store, where the seller is never expected to respond, but if they want, they can access suggestions for their own curiosity about how their products are used and how successful they were. I never judge the success of my stuff solely on downloads or even purchases. People frequently buy stuff on Daz solely based on an amazing promo rendering, or ecstatic copy, but – and this has happened to me countless times on Daz – you buy it but it's not at all as advertised, or, you maybe if an updated version is made in the future, it might be much better if X, Y or Z. But hey, let's not bother anyone. It has to be a one way communication. No promises, and no guarantee the creator will even read it.

As a content creator I would love if I could go in and search my "Suggetion Box" by keyword when wrestling with a problem, and find out what the heck happened for people who bought a creation of mine and used it in the real world, trying to solve real-world creative problems. Potentially I'd get better at making things customers want. But it would be a huge plus for both content creators and customers, who might vent frustration out of feeling like there's a gigantic black wall between you and the person you pay for a model, material, shader, clothes, whatever. It really would be a win/win situation for everyone. (Just a suggestion :)

It seems like you've already explained why this wouldn't be a good idea. Creators who want to make themselves available for such suggestions can post on the forums, maintain social media accounts etc.

Thanks for reading it. But what I actually meant was that the system that now exists causes immense frustration for many customers – read the many, many posts about it – because there is no way to provide any feedback, positive or negative. There is almost no other industry in existence today that makes tons of money off of people but allows customers no way at all to either positively rate/review/verify the value of what they bought, or flag/warn potential customers that it sucked. The point is: one compromise would be a 1-way suggestion box --->  Buyers can submit praise, problems, requests, but content creators can ignore it all, or look for valuable insights in those comments without the obligation to respond.  I've spoken to friends who also sell 3D models on various sites and yes, they don't want people swamping them on forums if they are not anonymous, but they'd love a way to access more insight into the success or failure of their stuff without being obligated to respond.

  • Trust as a vendor myself. I get swamped with requests for products. I have limits placed upon by the site I vendor at so each product counts when trying to make a bottom line. Most requesting the products don't understand this because they aren't vendors, I have taken on a few products like this and they come nowhere near in sales of what the next product released was which would have gone in the prior's slot. So in essence I lost profit or it delayed sales by taking on the suggestion. I've even had the suggestion, only 1 sale for the item and it wasn't from the person suggesting it. I myself will browse the suggestion forum we have for ideas time to time, but that is pretty much if I am bored making what I generally make, or want to challenge myself.

This sounds like a non-starter.  There's already the  Product Suggestions Forum  and we already have a ticketing system, through which customers can pass along feedback and/or suggestions to vendors, and request refunds for unsatisfactory items.

Err, why not just use the "Product Suggestions" forum that way; there is nothing stopping you from making a post of creator "A" made product "B" and I used it to make render "C".  Moreover there are many Art Studio members who do nothing but review products.... Is it required to reinvent the wheel?

  • That is one thing I've enjoyed about a couple of the other product stores, is the ability to message creators. Beyond that, I look for social media links for my faves.

If it's optional, it wouldn't be a great deal (at first). Further you could categorize inputs and add filters for the creator, e.g. to dump everything but product suggestions into the trash bin by default, also allow filtering users by name, time spent on DAZ, messages per day, etc. - all the dirty stuff you can't do on tv!

    I don't trust feedback.

There are too many ways it can not reflect customer's true opinions.

What other's write, doesn't tell me if I will or will not like it.

... And it is easy to return something I don't like. It's faster that trawling through numerous posts - some of which will be by folks who have a gripe that isn't about the product, or don't have a clue.

  • You can contact the store and they can pass along feedback to the vendors like how is this "one way box" different than what we have now...
