Daz Update - Rendering with Laptop connected to eGPU not working

(Updated - May be connected to the widespread server problem because now I couldn't render with just my laptop.)

Trying to render using laptop and razer core x gpu in Iray and got this message right before Daz crashed:

DAZStudio.exe caused ACCESS_VIOLATION in module "C:\WINDOWS\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nvami.inf_amd64_ab82c08bd4d2bb6c\nvoptix.dll" at 0033:00000000CC85E03B, optixQueryFunctionTable()+327691 byte(s)

I'm using Windows 11, Asus M16 Laptop with Core i9 and 3080TI 16gb and eGPU 3080TI 12GB. This happened after I swithched from the game ready driver (before today's update) to the studio driver which doesn't let me output to my external monitor when installed. Switched back to the game ready driver but the latest one and now can't render with my eGPU turned on. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks

  • "The latest driver" is rarely "the right driver". Roll back to a previous version.

    Did you use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to do a clean uninstall of the video drivers?

    I'm using Game Ready drivers with my 2x 1080ti (one external) and no problems. The error given is definitely a driver error, not a Daz server error.

     Hey - thanks again. It worked. I just redownloaded the driver from Nvidia without using the DDU which seemed kind of involved for my limited Windows/PC experience but just redownloading the September GR Driver worked nonetheless.

    My only quetion is how does a Daz User know when an error like this is fixed in future drivers? Since this doesn't affect too many users who don't have an eGPU they must not make it a priority to fix, I'm guessing?

    Trying to render a still image with the second GPU on is now freezing my computer. Maybe it's the scene I'm using. Future Down by Dreamlight. Rendering animations with canvases is taking forever in with that environment and doesn't even look that good althought the environment is really nice. oh well.
