When you open a new scene, there is a green line present. That is the place where all props/characters will appear when brought in. Can this line be moved? Or is there a way to place a prop/character into a scene in a place of my choosing instead of where the program determines it should come in?

Those are the center lines (there's a red and a blue one also for the other axes). If you hold the Alt key while dragging an item into the scene a target will appear showing where it will be loaded, so you can position it where you like.
How about it I am importing an item?
An item imports into D/S in the same position it was exported from in the Modeler. So if one "0,0,0"s their model, then exports it [in the correct size too], then it would load at zero in D/S.
One can import an .obj file to D/S, put it where they want it, resize it, etc. and then export out the .obj file. Then clear the scene and import back in that .obj file and it should be landing where desired.
And if it does of course then one can save it out as a prop file :-)
