How about Studio 5?
My understanding was that there would be no Genesis 10, that after Genesis 9 the next version would be "Genesis Pro".
...Genesis 10, paugh, still waiting for the "Make Art" button.
it's on Disord and it's called Midjourney, produces contest winning stuff too
This is where the Daz mature filters come in. It's not gonna be Genesis 10, it's gonna be Genesis X
..there will be no Genesis 9, only 10
It's coming after the Hexagon update.
And everybody will call it Gen X, and forget it exists between Genesis 9 and 11.
Gen X with latch key support. Makes it's own PBJ, and gets 99.9% blame on all the world's problems.
It's been available since April 2012.
On sept, 14 2027 at 9:03:45 AM, middle-earth time.
Kinda already looking forward to Genesis 10 with dedicated male and female meshes.
It's early to be pessimistic about it, but just looking at the mesh there is a big tradeoff with the topology especially the females.
Yeah, I'm getting that feeling that 9 is one that I will skip and go straight from 8 to 10 (or X or Pro or "Phoenix 1" or whatever).
That is what I intend to do. Hopefully if were lucky, it will be the LAST one and they figure out the best way for genesis model to just be updated on ONE MODEL ONLY. It can easily be done that way. Problem is, if Daz CHOOSES to do that route.
Wait, when did we leave Genesis 3? And where is Genesis 4, and whats this Genesis 8? Never mind 10, 11 or 12. Hopefully we won't get a Genesis Vista or Genesis ME. Is Genesis 8.1 kind of like Genesis 8 SE ?
...Genesis 7 would have been rock solid though.
I fear Genesis 10 will usher in the Genesis as a Service concept.
When genesis 10 is released, it will be declared the final version and no further updates will be made.
And that will be easily contradicted a few years later.
I think the point of this thread is and I now understand is the majority of the Daz community just wants ONE model that can just be updated or revisioned as needed and not have to buy a new one EVERY TIME. As I stated before though, will Daz do it though? And I know why they probably won't cause if they do this sort of route, Daz would then probably have to be charged to own and that right there I know MANY wouldn't want. The idea of Daz being free to use is the reason why many use it, however, that reason alone is why its a double edged sword. This software DESPERATELY needs optimized better and with all the money they get from selling new genesis models, people wonder where is it going? I won't buy gen 9 cause the previews I saw is literally detering me from getting it. However, if gen 10 or gen X or whatever comes after is like gen3/8 model and hopefully the LAST iteration, I will then buy it.
I don't understand, how this is suppose to work.
You either have a new figure or you don't.
A new figure won't work with the old one, or
you keep the old figure.
If you want improvements, than you will need a new figure.
I'd still be with Genesis XP ;)
Correct, once everyone has Genesis 10, DAZ will start forcing updates without any way to stop them. Said updates will break Studio and/or your GPU. If you're lucky you might even have to do a clean re-install of your OS. Good luck trying to submit a ticket!
And with each update breaking something to change one text character on the format, many modders will have broken products from the conflict. See I told you all Todd Howard was porting Skyrim to Daz Studio, but noone believed me.

I am waiting for the image2mesh transfer where you take a photograph and create a full character (not just a head)
pretty sure this could be AI assisted
yes with HD support. and automorphs from image.
As long as there are morphs with which to make the character look the way you want, that would be interesting. I would hate for that AI process to *replace* character sculpting/morphing altogether. Most of my fun with DAZ Studio is in using the morphs to make my own digital humans. I would like to see a variety of character skins for sale without having to buy the characters - I say that because I mostly buy characters for the skins (apart from "outliers" like George or Mabel, etc.).
I do object to having to buy new morph packages and skins for each generation though. If only there were an industry standard human UV or skeletal rig.
...but wasn't she 32 bit only? Almost jumped on Genesis Vista which was 64 bit, but she had issues, and 7 came out right on her spike heels.
Who remembers the Win 3 hard disk.
Genesis 11 will be released with DAZ Studio 6.
It will have a completely new rig system. This system contains all the information of a biped and has parameters for dialing in body and fat mass . It calulates the soft body dynamics and applies it to its surrounding figure mesh, resulting in realistic joint bending.
Minimum requirement will be a NVIDEA 5050 with at least 45GB Vram.
A lot of us here are in our twilight years so I doubt very much whether I (and some others) will be around in 2055.
