Well, I just got my RTX 4090! First thing I did was load up Daz Studio! Here are some results from three different RTX cards I have. This is exactly the same scene rendered on three different cards. As you can see... Wow!
Total Rendering Time RTX 2080Ti: 12 minutes 19.2 seconds
Total Rendering Time RTX 3090: 7 minutes 9.51 seconds
Total Rendering Time RTX 4090: 2 minutes 17.3 seconds
Edit after updating drivers and stuff: Total Rendering Time RTX 4090: 1 minutes 22.7 seconds

Very interesting. I would like to see the difference when there are three or four figures in the scene.
OH MY GOD!
I would've been happy with a doubling from 3090 to 4090, you're telling me the 4090 TRIPLES
TRIPLES
TRIPLES
IRAY speeds?
I mean, wow... just I'm floored, and suddenly feeling very very confident about my decision to preorder/get in line at B&H Tuesday morning last week, cause I mainly bought this card for my business/Iray and hahahah, wow, if it really has that kind of horsepower in this realm, I'm gonna be tempted to get two.
A lot of the gaming benchmarks estimated a less than double FPS boost but Iray is a triple+ boost? You could knock me over with a feather right now, I did not see that coming but I will absolutely welcome it.
Thank you for your benchmarks, I also have a 3090 and a 2080 (but not a ti) and so your test results are almost tailor made for me.
If the card doesnt work out for you I'll kindly take it off your hands free of charge;)
Some funky stuff going on with Daz Studio... now my 4090 is clocking in at 4m 27s for that same scene! I don't understand... will report back. Might be drivers.
I had to clean out my drivers with DDU. Then I set my 4090 on "Gaming Mode" (it's an MSI Trio) and now I'm getting 1m 22s. Unbelivable card! I also updated my bios and turned on my resizing bar.
At first I thought it was a mistake! Everything checks out! 1m 22s !!!
Can you tell us a bit more of your system configuration ?
CPU & Board
maybe a complete run of the benchmark ?

That is just insane. What a beast of a card. My 3090 is starting to sweat.
I would like to know more about your render settings because that scene with my 3090 would take about half a minute at most. It looks like a standard base G8 skin texture.
Wow those are awesome numbers! Does your motherboard support PCIE 4.0? Or is your 4090 plugged into a PCIE 3.0 slot?
In the case of their test image, it's absolutely the HAIR where the render time piles up.
My RTX 3060 12GB rendered this FHD scene in about 2 minutes and 30 seconds. A better measure of your 4090 would be the DAZ Studio benchmark scene over in the Commons section of the forum; although I feel that scene has become a bit too lightweight in complexity of iRay features now to be a modern good measure of iRay improvements from various iRay SDK versions and nVidia HW versions.
Also, in my experience it's the hair that eats up all your video RAM too.
Thanks for posting the RTX 20-30-40-series cards Render Time Comparisons... very illuminating!
I second the idea of running your RTX 4090 on the Daz Studio Iray - Rendering Hardware Benchmarking test:

I'm hyped! My Zotac RTX 4090 Airo is on the way, should be here this week!
I'll share benchmarks here as soon as I get it.
Just putting this here for my reference, my RTX 3090 + RTX 2080 render the DAZ Studio Benchmark Scene with version 4.21.0.5:
1 minute and 38 seconds
My RTX 3090 on its own:
2 minutes and 9 seconds
My RTX 2080 on its own:
5 minutes and 37 seconds
Adding a 3090 to my setup gave me a giant boost to my productivity, my life will be a lot easier if I get similar improvements as OP. Well, I'll find out later this week!
paradasergio,
I believe the speed where you got the 4 minutes and something is more accurate. As the 4090 should be approximately 95% faster than a single 3090 in GPU rendering. For an accurate and true test, you have to completely exit Daz Studio and render the scene just one time. If you render it a second time, it is drastically reduced in time possibly giving you the 2 minute results.
Could you try completely exiting Daz Studio and run the test again?
Thanks in advance as I'm very interested in getting the 4090 if it were available to purchase anywhere. (All sold out thanks to bots).
"the 4090 should be approximately 95% faster than a single 3090 in GPU rendering."
you're basing that off of benchmarks that only measure CUDA core performance, it's possible that the new tensor cores are not just more numerous in the 4090 but also more efficiently utilized by Iray
https://beebom.com/nvidia-rtx-4090-vs-rtx-3090-ti/#:~:text=The RTX 4090 has 84,can't objectively be compared.
"
The RTX 4090 has 84 RT cores against 3090 Ti’s 82 cores and 336 Tensor cores compared to 328 on the RTX 3090 Ti. This might not seem like a big jump in terms of raw numbers, but as Nvidia has claimed, these cores are different from the older ones and can’t objectively be compared.
Well, the RT cores in the RTX 4000 series cards are third-generation RT cores that offer twice the ray-tracing performance of “Ampere” RT cores. The new RT cores also introduce two new hardware components: an Opacity Micromap Engine and a Displaced Micro-Mesh Engine. "
Anyway, I'll chime in with my benchmark this Friday
How is the energy consumption? Do the lights in the neighborhood go out when you render? ;)
Still very impressive!
People can make jokes about the power consumption but for Iray users, objectively speaking, it'll be more efficient overal.
Not sure how exactly I would measure it but let's say it consumes 450 watt hours in an hour to render a certain amount of footage, previous generation video cards, like my 2080, might pull less than 200 watts during Iray rendering but might require over 1000 watt hours to render the same amount of footage at the same render settings.
I was basing this upon PugetSystems who create content creation boxes and their tests. Here is a link to their tests in Blender, OctaneRender, etc. which should be very close to what Daz3D could expect in my opinion. The math shows 97.1% improvement in Blender rendering going from RTX 3090 to RTX 4090 which is just amazing!

Zotac Airo RTX 4090 with Game Ready Driver 526.47:
1 minute and 23 seconds
But I suspect that Iray and the driver is underutilizing the card because the TDP according to GPU Z never broke over 64% while with my RTX 3090 the during an Iray render consistently pushes to 98%+. Gonna try the studio ready.
Already it's a very large improvement over my 3090 by itself, the 4090 + 3090 will be a beast but the 4090 vs my 3090 + 2080, so far not the leap I was hoping to see.
GTX 1650 + Keyshot, do it (or with better quality) in 10 secounds... or...less.
What's keyshot?
Anyway, just tried studio drivers, 522.30 and the RTX 4090 still manages the exact same time, I'm suspecting that Iray currently doesn't fully utilize the 4090 the way it aggressively utilized everything it could in the 3090 I'm still not breeching 65% tdp according to GPU Z.
Is there some setting that I'm overlooking?
Well, I'm not too disappointed cause once I'm able to externally rig up the 3090, I'll be able to get the benchmark well under a minute.
Hi :)
Keyshot It's 3rd party software, just an external renderer. It's infinitely faster than any other renderers, including Octane or RedShift. It is well known, especially in the games industry (Cinematic - for trailer production, etc).
Gasp !!!!!
Oh I see, the problem with comparing render speeds of different renders is that it could be comparing apples and oranges unless we're seeing the actual final images demonstrating extremely similar results.
Well that's pretty dang impressive! And you are sure that you are exiting Daz Studio and rendering it only one single time? The second render is always much faster.
And if you are not running it a second time... could you try running it a second time and see how much quicker it is at that point?
Thanks in advance Diaspora
I'm so upset at all of the bots who bought up all of the 4090's and drooling over your shiny new hardware.
I booted fresh and loaded straight into DAZ and rendered once to remove any such possible variables.
But yeah, I tried it again, the benchmark scene renders 1 minute and 23 seconds the first time and 1 minute and 21 seconds the second time.
They're definitely impressive cards. They're starting to hang about in stock for a while in the UK, at least the less popular models, but prices are still high.
More a case that the ATX3.0 power plug into the GPU is not dodgy.
