How to add more subd to a geograft's base resolution?

I have a geograft that I want to add more subd on its base resolution. I want more subd on it so I can have more polys to work with when exporting to zbrush. How do I go about doing that?

  • SubD is additional virtual mesh, you sound as if you want to add more base mesh/ You can't do that at the graft, but you can certainly then divide the polygons as you move away from the grafted edge into your own model, using whatever modelling techniques suit (though you may need to extend th grafted area to get a smooth transition).

you can subdivide the mesh in Zbrush surely, and then sculpt on the subdivided mesh.

to bring high resolution detail sculpt back into Daz Studio, i assume you would have to bake it into a displacement map.

That would change the grafting edges, assuming it was meant to graft.

Yeah, adding more base mesh to the geograft is what I want to do. So with zbrush just mask the edges and then subdivide the mesh? It's just that I don't know what setting to use for transfer utility or when importing/exporting the geograft in daz studio. The geograft also comes with bones, I don't know if there are some extra steps for that.

You would probably be better off choosing where you want to insert the edges and ensuring that they join in nicely to the parts of the mesh you want to keep the same.

  • I would think this was a job better done in a modeller, or at least the link from the new part to the base added in a modeller.

  • I was able to make a higher poly geograft through zbrush, while leaving the edges alone. But now I'm having issues with the UVs. They're not aligned correctly like in the original geograft. How do I fix this?

It sounds like you've done something to change the uv. The only thing I can think of is to create a new uv for your object or try and match it to the original uv's in something like uv layout which is really difficult.
