How to stop Daz Studio from saving PNG files with Scenes

Is there a way to stop Daz Studio from saving PNG files with every scene file?

I don't need the PNG files and would only like to see DUF files in my scenes and sub scenes folders.

  • If there were no .png files, then in the program all you'll see is the same symbol for a missing image ;-)

I don't look at the PNG files. I look at the rendered image from the scene to tell which scene it came from.

Everyone works in Daz Studio differently and I have no use for the PNG files in the Scenes or Sub Scenes folders and would like to stop Daz Studio from creating/saving PNG files in those folders.

I don't know of a way to disable them in DS, or if it's even possible. The only way I can think of is to lessen their visibility is by switching to list view in the main pane of the Content Library. It's the right hand buttom at the top of the main pane and looks like a set of lines. It's not what you want but maybe it'll be enough?

As has been pointed out, if you remove the .pngs (you can do this manually, saving them in case you change your mind and want to put them back) when you open DAZ Studio you won't have any previews, so when you go to load one of your scenes or subsets, all you'll have are the names and the missing image icon. You mentioned picking the one you want from your rendered images, but that means having another program showing you the scene images.

As you say, everyone uses the software differently, but if you are only working on a scene and haven't rendered it, you won't have anything to know what it looks like.

As suggested, move the .png files out of the folder and restart DAZ Studio and see how it works.

That all said, what is the issue with just leaving them? You'd have to have hundreds of them before even taking up a single megabyte of disk space.
