Very slow rendering

I have one particular figure where when I render it, it's incredibly slow. I have a fast PC, and other figures (all are V6) render fine. It seems in this case to be very slow on the hair, which is Ranger. I have this same hair on other figures, and it renders fast on them. The render size is 800x960 so it's not particularly big. It's using "3Delight" engine.
So far it's done 17% of it after 5 min 22 sec. For other figures this would have taken 20 seconds or so.
Is there some setting somewhere that can be making the render incredibly slow/detailed?
Thanks.

I just noticed it's giving me an error message while rendering:
3Delight message #45 (Severity 2): S2069: the interface of shader 'C:/Users/JEFREY/AppData/Roaming/DAZ 3D/Studio4/temp/shaders/brickyard/{407f8e5c-3a9b-4708-b5e5-799ff1fe7c1d}/shader_Surface.sdl' is invalid
Generally when that happens, you have a white render, not a super slow one. It's a temporary glitch...sometimes caused by canceling a render, before it really starts...among other reasons. There are two ways to fix it. Go to the brickyard folder (listed in the error message) and delete ALL the subfolders in it. Or save the scene and restart Studio.
OK yes it was doing a white render. I let it play out and although it rendered the hair, everything on the body was white.
I looked through the LOG file and found that the brickyard folder was in a hidden folder in AppsData, so I figured out how to unhide that, and deleted it.
So now the rendering is working. But still, ridiculously slow.
Is there a setting somewhere to speed it up, perhaps sacrificing some quality (but not size?)
Thanks for your help by the way.
Does anyone have any hints as to what might be causing a particular model to be 20x slower than another, when they're both relatively similar, perhaps the only real difference is the hair? Can one hair type take so much extra time to render that it has this much impact? What generally causes super slow renders?
It all depends on the amount of trans maps that the hair has and your render settings
