So, I'm having a problem with Victoria 9 HD Makeup
I'm mostly okay applying makeup to the character, but using the Remove All with the character selected (!) does not remove the makeup. For a do-over, I have to reapply the character's skin. Has anyone else had this issue and/or found a solution?
PS: This is after yesterday's update to this product.

I am having the same issue with the remove makeup option. I just got my Pre order bundle main files today, so I don't know if any new updates changed anything. Hopefully somone might have some better soultion.
I'm having issues with it too. I get the dialog box telling me it's reading the asset, and loading the file. But it makes absolutely no difference to the appearance of the figure.

Same. Also, the eye shadows make my eyes glow and doesnt even match the underlying skin very well so the figures look like creepy alien clowns. The product is also very poorly described. What is the 05 makeup supposed to be? and what is the "extra" function. I'm really underwhelmed with the pre-order stuff so far.
#1 - you cannot see the makeup nor if it is removed unoess you use iray preview in your working wondow.
#2 - you have to have a skin applied that is PBRSkin shader or it will not work properly, if you're using G9.
I don;t have V9 so no idea what could be happening with it.
I am also having this problem. This new figure is very slow to do anything let alone apply makeup. Then the makeup won't always apply and the remove options don't work. This applies to both G9 (with G9 or V9 skin) and V9 (with G9 or V9 skin) with IRAY preview on.
Has anyone found a work-around for this? All I get is an error message.
I put a ticket in for this.
Also when using the ALL makeup options, it gives horrible results.
I'm having issues as well. Remove all doesn't remove everything, I have to reload the skin materials.
I also don't like that every option loads the foundation. Gave up trying to use the presets due to results that I didn't like, or that were not "useable". loading the makeup manually into with LIE on the Base Color is my workaround. I was going to return it if the manual workaround didn't provide good results (I also edited the eye shadow texture to make it more like what I wanted).
Yeah...I tried the manual LIE but it was such a hassle...it didn't line up right and moving it into place was such a slow process. I just really like her default skin but wanted to add a light makeup look to her eyes. At least you can get it to load lol...I can't even get that. I have never returned a product but until something better comes along I may have to.
Yesh, G9/V9 not having separate lip surfaces is a real pain. I also have the same issue with having to reapply the V9 base skin and having the foundation apply when you apply lipstick is maddening (bangs head against keyboard over & over & over & over...). Hopefully someone will comeout with good L.I.E. makeup that is independent of the underlying skins. Can't even use the lipstick on G9.
I picked up Lully's Makeup for G9 over at Rendo. It's missing the foundation, but otherwise it's pretty nice with lots of options. It's all LIEs that apply to the Diffuse map, except for the lipstick that applies separately to the Makeup channel.
The more subtle look without the foundation caked on is pretty. I think that's a good look on V9.
Edited to say, I know I posted elsewhere that I didn't like V9's freckles. The foundation in the V9 makeup set diminishes the look of freckles on her face but then when her chest is still all freckled the contrast looks a bit odd. Kind of like how actress Lindsay Lohan's signature freckles disappeared and she looked so strange. Just my humble opinion.

How to get Victoria 9 HD Makeup to work as expected on Victoria 9
if you apply or remove the various elements in the texture shaded draw style and then switch to iray you should now see the makeup has applied or removed as expected - remember it takes a little while for the script to complete.
If you like working in the iray preview mode and the makeup doesn't seem to be working as expected when applied or removed try hitting iray again and it should work - i like working in the iray preview because when i remove the makeup the figure flashes up grey after a little while, signifying that the removal has taken place and i can update the iray preview.
The only elements i can't get to work as expected is the lip gloss.
How to get Victoria 9 HD Makeup to work on Genesis 9
These are all Genesis 9 (not Victoria 9) with the free skin mats.
As you can see the Victoria 9 Makeup works but it does require loading in a certain way.
- Be in the iray preview window and load genesis 9 with any of the materials.
- Apply any of makeup sets (use the apply all preset) and wait for it to load (it will look odd at this stage)
- Hit the iray preview again (it may still look odd)
- Now hit the remove all preset and the makeup should now look good (don't hit the iray preview again or the makeup will be removed)
3 of the 5 sets have a foundation that is designed for pale skin so even though they will work on dark skin they would look odd - although single elements contained within the set may work ok.
Thank you for sharing this option! I was waiting to see how the V9 Makeup was and this thread made me worried about purchasing it. I was able to test the set you mentioned today and it worked out pretty well on darker skins. I did find a few issues with the colors on the lips, but there were options that worked well and you can change the strength on them from .01 - .07. If anyone wants to see the results on the LIE makeup on a dark skin, check out:

Also, thank you for posting samples @SolitarySandpiper. I'm a bit worried about your comment about not using Iray preview again since I do that a lot when working on an image, but the samples you posted help those of us curious on how the make up looks on G9. I also worry about the extra steps to get them to work. Maybe that will improve over time or once some LIE makeup options will be available in the Daz Store?
For sure... i'm hoping they fix this product to work as expected without having to resort to any workaround.
if you did want to use this workaround (it is just 3 clips) you would probably do it just before rendering, however you could still use it before to see how it looks, but as you switch between iray and texture shaded the makeup would be removed.
Also remember this is just for Genesis 9 (Vicky 9 is pretty straight forward with just a refresh of iray)
When I apply V9 makeup to G9 base textures, eg eye makeup, I get big tonal mismatch rings arund the eyes like a racoon in negative.
It's been nearly a month and this is still broken.

Thanks so much for pointing this one out! Picked it up today and so far so good! I tried it on Biddie which I picked up for the Black Friday deal and looks good! I like her shadows but not so much her lipsticks...they seem to go beyond the lips. I think no matter the character that most people prefer the mix and match option for shadow and lipstick...but it is still early in the Gen 9 game so we can hope for better options :)
