Parented items move from figure when rendered; in right place in previews

I'm currently trying to render a figure with pierced nipples, but every time I try to render, the piercings jump about 2" up, away from the figure. How does this happen, and what's the solution? Mongo very puzzled - this is not the first time I've experienced something like this.

The piercings are probably attached with Rigid Follow Nodes. There is a forum thread someplace where solutions to this problem are discussed. I don't have a link; you'll have to search.
