Is the content not appearing in Content Library>Folder you unzipped to>Poser Formats or Content Library>Folder you unzipped to>DAZ Studio Formats? If not, check that there were no spurious folders in the zip -Content or My Library etc. The Data and Runtime folders, and any at the same level, should be merged with the existing Data and Runtime folders in your chosen content directory. 4.8 should not make any difference to this.
Note that different products are zipped differently, and you might have to move files/folders around. Some products just zip the runtime, some put the runtime inside another folder and zip that and you'll have to move it back out, some don't use any folders and you'll have to manually create the poser folder structure and move the files into it, some zip two zips and you'll have to unzip, then unzip again, then do any moving, etc.
It is often helpful to glance at the contents of the zip before unzipping it to see if you need to unzip it into a temporary folder and make adjustments before putting everything in its final location.
If you are unfamiliar with the folder structure, it can be helpful to glance at the existing working folder structure of a similar existing installed product (remembering there are differences between poser and DAZ Studio folder structures, some products don't use some folders and files that others do, etc.)
still confused, i don't understand about where i would unzip a folder to in daz, very confusing,
Please post an image of the contents of your ZIP file, it is really not that confusing.
The short answer is you do not unzip the folder into DAZ. You unzip it outside of your Daz Library.
You then move the contents of the folder into the corresponding folders in your Daz Library folder.
DAZ Studio has a list of folders in which it looks for content. I think it comes with a few default locations, but you can also add your own. You can install your content into any location and add it here, or install it into one of the ones you already have alongside other products.
To see these folders or add new ones, from the Content Library pane's menu, select "Content Directory Manager". Click the little '+' icon to expand either or both the DAZ Studio or Poser content to see the existing folder(s) DAZ Studio currently knows about. If you know your content is Poser only, or DAZ Studio native only, you can add your folder to just that one catagory, but if your product contains both kinds of files (or if you don't know) then just add the same folder twice, once to each of the two lists. (There's also a third kind of content, I honestly don't know what it's for, I've never used it.)
