[Solved] My default opening layout has gone bonkers!

I don't know if it's something I did, or something about the latest release.   But every time I open Daz Studio, the Viewport always opens in FULL SCREEN Mode and the background is white.
Normally the viewport would open within one pane, so you could see the rest of the sections and tabs, with a dark grey background.  (see image below)
So each time I open Daz Studio I have to go to the top right drop down menu, and unselect Full Screen Mode.  But then the viewport is not docked, it's free floating over to the right side of the screen, and still white.
So then I have to go to Window-> Workspace -> Select Layout -> and select my layout.   I even saved this layout as "Default Advanced".

I'm using the latest Daz Studio 4.21.  Attached image is the way I have always had my setup (across two monitors).
The other image is currently how Daz Studio opens with the white full screen layout.

  • It is important to close D/S [and be sure that none of the components are still running] before installing D/S updates.

You can try closing the viewport window. Then going to Window/Tabs ... open it again.
Dock it to the center top.

Or you can close it and again go to Window ... change the layout or workspace to something else, then switch it back to your preferred layout or workspace.

Or you can close D/S, uninstall it and be sure it is all finished stopping. Then reinstall it. Uninstalls should be done via whichever method was used to install it in the first place.

I tried your suggestions but Daz Studio will still open with the same full screen viewport, and a white background.   It seems to me that there was an option to open Daz Studio with the previous layout. But I can't seem to find that in the preferences.   I feel like I'm missing an obvious solution.   It's not that big of a deal, just a little hassle going through the steps of Exiting full screen mode, and selecting the layout that I want, each time I start the software.

  • It could be that there's a certain file that needs to be 'remade' -- Richard H. knows where that might be. I don't.

Under Preferences > Interface, at the bottom, there is a "Restore Factory Defaults" That might help get it back.

Thanks for your response.   But actually, it just started working correctly again last night.   I don't know what I did (because I tried a bunch of things), but now Daz Studio will open correctly with the layout I want, and no more "full screen" viewport either!
So, I'm a happy camper now. laugh
