i'm now confident that i understand and can complete steps16/17 but i have 8 versions of these eyeballs saved now and i've not made any progress... when fitted to the model the eye socket is still visible through the pupil in certain lighting.
Maybe i'm trying to fix the wrong element and it's the saved material/shader presets that are at fault.
i'll go back and see if steps 19 and 20 are being followed correctly.
you do realise the G9 eye pupil is a hole like a real anatomically correct eyeball right,
so you can see the back of the retina through it... (not the eye socket)
i didn't know that but i do know that Gen8 eye socket is nothing like a real anatomically correct eye socket in fact it's very small... so small that it's visible through the pupil and that wouldn't be a problem if it didn't contain the geometry for the lacrimal.
True, i guess if you didnt want to see the eyesocket on the back of the eye (and instead wanted to see the back of the retina) you could add an opacity map to the eye socket or something where it intersects with with the eyeball. I dont see how it's a big issue though as the eyesocket texture should be dark red, and thus wont pick up light unless you are shining light directly into the pupil? at which point if it reflects out to camera, you would just be imitating the realistic red eye effect?
Tried it out, and it looks (no pun intended) pretty good. Weird bubbling around the moisture area when I use other facial morphs on it. I know it's all ready been requested, but I'd love for someone to make G9 eyes for G8/1.
Good job over all!
