How to subscribe to forum posts on the new UI...

Hey guys,
So I am having difficulty with this new forum structure, particularly in figuring out how to subscribe to threads/posts so I can recevie email notifications.
I am sure it is right in front of me, I just don't see it.

On the title bar of the thread, at the far lleft is a faint star -- click it and it lights up orange, and you are subscribed. If you want to receive email notifications, click the gear at the far top right, click on your name, then click the gear on that and choose Edit Profile > Notification Preferences, and make sure the email box is checked for "Notify me when people comment on my bookmarked discussions."
