Genesis 8 props and Hairs on Genesis 9

All my assets have been developed around G8 and G8.1. Is there a way to make the hair and props compatible with G9. Also tools like Shape Gen and Measurement Metrics.

  • AutoFit may work for many things, though you would lose any custom bones. For hair it may work to place it on the ehad and just aprent it, without re-rigging as all. In general AutoFit can handle the shape adjustemnt, then you can tweak the weight-maps or add bones as needed.

Autofit generally works for hair; if I had problems, I loaded it, then scaled and positioned before parenting to head.

Often, that is the best option, even when it autofits properly, it just takes a minute or two longer.

With Props, I just position then parent to the item (or as close as) that the are connected to, such as an earing going to the Head.

  • So far with clothes and most of my hair props, AutoFit works if you use the "Bodysuit Tight" template. Bodysuit Loose template has worked ok for some clothing. Bodysuit Tight template has also worked ok for many but not all necklaces, etc. No luck with rings or earrings.

Up to date, Autofit can handle most of the clothing by using right template as richonhh mentioned (still partial problems could be seen), however, for flat shoes, twisted~ even using footwear template. I manually rigged the shoes a bit and used TU tool to refit on G9 perfectly. Why Autofit could not handle with it?

For hairs, there are no template by now. It even took nearly 5 - 10 mins to convert a couple of high quality hairs and finally make my scene file very huge and also costs a lot of time for saving it~~ Autofit is always my 2nd option all these years. And then, high heels are diff. things, I'm still trying on them~~

I have run into some problems with hair on G9/V9:

For apllying h.materials to Suzina hair, you just need to change G9's node name to Genesis8Female, then it'll work~~ I'm gonna try the conforming issue then

I tend to exclude hair as it manages, usually, without and is more likely than clothes to have custom bones.

  • i have the same problems with shoes even those designed for genesis 9.

the shoes in the image are those from the PEPPA BIKINI pack that are for genesis 9

Don't see any problem with those shoes, the pose is for shoeless figure. One needs to pose the feet oneself if the shoes don't have a pose of their own for the feet.

I use a lot of Arryns high heels on G8F and have got them to work quite nicely on G9. Load and auto fit to G9 using the footwear template. The auto fit process will generate a set of 'toes' bones on the shoes that weren't there previously, selecting those toes bones and adding a bend of 42% fixes the upward pointing toes if needed. Selecting the shoes 'foot' bones and using the weight map brush to un-paint the weight influence on the stiletto heel makes them nice and straight, then save as a wearable asset in G9's clothing folder ready to go whenever needed.

Until a propper solution can be found you might find this helpful in getting G8 hair to work on G9 https://www.deviantart.com/toyen-art/journal/Tutorial-How-to-Fit-Poseable-Hair-to-Genesis-9-933611835
