Simple Question about Stonemason:Dirt Shaders

I am having trouble getting the dirt shader to work with a basic skin texture. Everytime I apply the dirt shader, It looks like metal. What is it that I am obviously not doing right?
Thanks for your time!

In the viewport or after rendering? Rendered in 3delight or Iray?
After rendering with 3delight. The shaders are not previewable after selecting;they just appear a dark grey.
Thanks for the reply!

Can you provide a screenshot?
In case it matters, which shader and/or settings have you used or changed? (just the default BronzePatina.duf shader, etc.)
What object are you using it on? It appears to generate dirt in corners or instersecting surfaces, so you will get different results from different shapes (see screenshot, sphere doesn't really have much on it compared to the two intersecting cubes.)
I am trying to achieve the dirt on the skin in the third pic. It doesnt matter which texture i choose, I get the full effect. I tried 'cntrl-clicking' and on images 'ignore' but I still get the displacement or bumps.
here is the link to the pic I am trying to acheive...

I don't recalll this shader being designed for human skin; i would recommend that you create a geoshell and apply the shader to that... and leave the underlying skin alone.
How would I go about doing that?
Here is a brief tutorial using geometry shells to eliminate poke-through by creating the shell (Create New Geometry Shell): https://helpdaz.zendesk.com/entries/21178872-Eliminating-Poke-Through Once you have the shell, you can assign textures etc... to the shell, creat opacity masks etc... An example of a product that uses this is http://www.daz3d.com/da-circuit-one-for-genesis-2-female-s Once you have applied the shader to your geometry shell, adjust it as you like, apply the iray shader to it if you are using iray...and done.
Interesting, Thanks for the idea! I will give it a go.
THanks!

For what it's worth, I have seen... zombie apocalypse products in the catalog, that maybe have this type of "dirt" or weathering. Not sure if this sort of thing is best done with a shader, or a displacement map, or SSS, or just painting gray or dark tones on torso.jpg with a custom brush?
