Neko model missing textures

Hi,

I bought Neko HD model,
https://www.daz3d.com/neko-hd-for-genesis-8-female

Trying to apply the textures, then running iray crashed my daz to desktop,
Looking at the logs and this shows before the crash:

2022-11-01 20:05:39.434 Iray [INFO] - IMAGE:IO ::   1.0   IMAGE  io   info : Loading image "E:\Work\DAZ3D\Applications\Data\DAZ 3D\My DAZ 3D Library\Runtime\Textures\Raiya\Neko\RyNeko_torso_1002.jpg", no selector, pixel type "Rgb", 4096x4096x1 pixels, 1 miplevel.

Or maybe its something else?
Thanks in advance.

  • It's the .tif file normal maps. They for some reason crash iray in recent versions of daz. Convert them to .png or remove them before rendering.

    I'll try thanks!

    @zombietaggeru tried to change the normal to png - still crash when I run iray

  • How about removing them completely? And check anything else you may have in the scene as well for wayward tif files.

    Will that not break some references?

    It could, only if you overwrite the originals with the new, though. Which I do not recommend. But, assuming the character/prop/set has been used in a previously saved scene, it's not too hard to reopen the old scenes and replace the tif files with the new png files.

    I removed all the tif
    changed all tifs to png

    then removed them, but still it crashes when I start Iray - even in viewport
    not to mention when I send it to the render farm...

    Interestingly enough IF I change all the textures - i.e. from another product - it works fine

    now it gives me:
    DAZStudio.exe caused ACCESS_VIOLATION in module "E:\Work\DAZ3D\Applications\64-bit\DAZ 3D\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\libs\iray\libneuray.dll" at 0033:000000000768EDDE, mi_neuray_factory_deprecated()+9708062 byte(s)

  • Well, I'm not sure what that error means, so someone else will have to chime in for that one.

    When I change her skin to one from another model it works a-ok!
    with normals and everything

    I confirm that Neko HD causes an instant crash when trying to Iray Preview or Render.

    - I resaved all jpg textures. Resaved all Tiff : crash.

    - I converted Tiff to png and replaced all corresponding textures on the model : crash.

    - I used the slider to dial the full morph rather than load the character, to avoid using the geograft eyes just in case. But as soon as I applied textures : crash.

    As it's not a material issue, it's probably more a shader issue.

    I won't test further because it's 4:30AM and there are too many things to test with constant crashing before I can pinpoint the problem. But there is definitely something wrong with this model.

    It is unusable as it was sold.

    Submit a ticket about that    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    just a quick note that I'm looking into this but still haven't found a solution either.
