[Daz crashes when I render G8s but not G3s] So, I'm guessing that its a memory issue?

Currently i'm on auto assign virtual memory, however, in the past i have manuall set it.

I'm running Win 11 on a Ryzen processor

Processor AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with , 3901 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s)

I'm using an Nvida card with 8 gig.

This used to work perfectly, now after the upgrade to Win11 kaputs.

Any advice will be appreciated

  • Any Genesis 8, or only some? How much system RAM do you have?

  • Hi Richard, thanks for getting back to me.

I've tried a few (not many) G8s and with your suggestion I'm trying the base G8....

    Now this is queer...

I've made a new scene with the 2 characters that make Daz crash, and no probs, but when i load the same 2 characters from a few days ago (open recent), it crashes...

I have 8gig RAM on my computer.

  • One issue maybe a clash between your AMD CPU and Win 11. On release Win 11 was very unfriendly towards AMD products and caused significant performance issues, with people reporting anything from 30% to 70% degredation. Whether that's since been fixed, I don't know. The 8gb ram does sound a little low, and Win 11 is a resource hog, even without the AMD issues,

Based on countless of threads and posts and 30+ years of experience (both professional and hobby) with computers, the practical minimum for Daz Studio is 32GB's of system RAM and 8GB's of nVidia GPU VRAM.

8GB's of system RAM is nowhere near enough, it means using virtual memory, which DS doesn't like and which is often wrong size, fragmented or otherwise causing problems with DS.
