ISO Short Fingernail Morph for G8/8.1F

xyer0xyer0 Posts: 6,020

I need a short (as close to the nub as possible), rounded fingernail morph for Genesis 8/8.1 Female. I have multiple nail length morphs, but none of them provide a very short nail. Help, please?

that's a good one, I could use that as well, tried to dial them as short as possible but it looks weird with the white part still present

There is a way if you get Hexagon which is free and from here, it is relatively easy to make the required morph to how you want it. The reason for Hexagon is that Daz Studio has a great import / export bridge, for such things. smiley

I assume that the white part is due to the texture, so you would iether have to change the texture, or you could make a morph where the outer vertex row of the nails is almost merged with the next row of verteces, to make the white area really short.

@Linwelly Yup. I'll have to Photoshop alternative nail maps. @Ghosty12 I have Hexagon, but I've only opened it once. It might be easy for some people, but I can only count to F without step-by-step instructions.

Ahh no worries, I can probably do it but may take a while to do it (sheepishly grins) as it is not as easy as I thought.. lol blush The main issue is retracting the vertex lines and what not back enough while trying to keep the nail from looking too weird.

Another option is to use the Mesh Grabber product what is good about it, is that you can do it right in Studio. smiley

@felis That's exactly what I need! How'd you do it?

@Ghosty12 Thanks, mate, I suck at Mesh Grabber, but the suggestion may be useful.

I just modelled it in blender. That was the easy part wink

Let me see if I can get it into DS as a morph. Will try to get that done later today.

@felis That sounds like a great idea! I wish you much success. And thanks for the effort.

No worries, is the only way I could think of that does not require a lot of fiddling around with other programs.. lol laugh

It is actually seldom I make morphs - and save them. But after some trial and error I think I got it.

    There are 3 pictures below.

    First how normal nails look.

The second is the morph, and I realised that when rendered in Daz there was a little more white on the nails, than I had thought in blender.

So in the third picture I tried to turn limits off and set the morph to 150%

The motph should be found under Actor > Hands > Short_nails
