Frame by Frame - Non animated keyframe questions

I am trying to create a comic book style set of images from a single scene. My hope was to be able to move my models around in the scene, record a keyframe and eventually render all the frames out in one batch render session, rather than individual scene files. Unfortunately that doesnt seem to be happening. I can move/pose models, record a keyframe and travel back and forth through the timeline and things look great. If I close the file and open it again later everything gets boogered up. Certain frames will have been modified and are not in the same state they were before the file was closed, meaning I have to re-pose everything. I have ended up working on this particular set of images as individual scene files which is defeating the purpose (to perform a batch render of all frames overnight), but would like to work on future sets in the manner explained.

Can anyone lend any advice as to what I could be doing wrong. Is it me? Is it the software? I'm getting a little frustrated. Thanks for any help.

The first thing to remember is that the D|S Timeline keyframes feature is dependent on the current selection. If you're coming from Poser, you'll recognize that this is different. In Poser, you simply set up the scene, characters, lights, camera, everything, and the content of each keyframe is duly recorded, irrespective of any current selection.

The second thing to remember is that the D|S Timeline feature is limited, and may not odo what you need. Take a look at the separate animate2 plugin. Read the docs available for it, and determine if it'll work for you.

Yeah, I kind of figured that out and started selecting all items in the scene before recording the keyframe. It appeard to have worked, but it ended up doing the same thing. When the file was closed and reopened the characters experienced....difficulties. I didnt think about using Animate. Ill see if that works any better. Thanks.
