I used to be able to drag an object on to another to parent it, but now I am no longer able to do so. have I accidentally checkd/unchecked something somewhere in Studio?

what version of Daz Studio are you using ?
Like when when dragging clothing from the Contant Library to a figure in a scene, or dragging one object to another in the Scene pane?
I´m using the latest version. What I mean is for example: If i have a plane and try to drag an object on to the plane to parent the object to the plane. Not dragging from the content library.
There is a thread on this in the New Users forum (https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/599831/drag-to-parent-objects-not-working#latest). The users there were on Mac, and were advised to submit a support ticket because it appears to be a bug.
I have the latest version on PC and drag to parent is working for me, so it could be a Mac-only issue.
I'm on macos Ventura (latest) and also lost this feature recently. Probably the update to 4.21.0.5 I suspect.
This isn't an area that has changed in 4.21.0.5 - it may well be a chnage in ventura, depending on which OS and version the other victims are using. Please do report the issue, more erports will help the developers to narrow it down and - hopefully - resolve it or report it to Apple as appropriate.
I have also had this problem since Ventura, and I have seen that there are already several threads about it. I noticed the problem when I tried to drag a geometry from the geometry list to "Relationships" in the figure setup.
Before I report this, I wanted to ask if there is an alternative method in this case (e.g. like parenting via right click and menu or something). As far as I know, you can only drag and drop geometries onto the relationships tab in the figure setup.
A clunkier alternative is to import the OBJ into the scene, Edit>Object>Rigging>Convert prop to Figure, then use the right-click>Create options from the Joint Editor tool to add bones.
Ah, thank you! Indeed a bit cumbersome, but at least it works :)
Some more general is broken in parenting and I'm not sure what. Sometimes in DS PB 4.21.1.13 with a V9 & G9 (and maybe other combos) when I apply poses the eyes & mouth parented to the G9 body don't follow! It may have something to do with heirarchical presets I've tried to apply but that fail because they were not applicable to the node selected in the scene tab. I'm not sure how I set off that bug yet.
Drag-and-drop is a different issue.
