Can someone tell me how to change an object or charactors pivot point please.

  • You have to go to the joint editor and move the green arrow, I believe. There's another thread on this if you google daz 3d change object pivot point, I've had to find that multiple times by googling with that line, but I've searched it enough to be fairly certain it's the green arrow that you have to move once in the joint editor.

  • Green crosshairs rather than arrow.

  • Ah, that's right, I was close! Thanks, Richard!

  • Thank you Benniewoodell and Richard haseltine. I will give the green cross hairs in the joint editor a go.

  • Hi Guys, on a similar note

When using joint editor, I want the rotation to follow the line of the arm so when I use rotate it bends at a 90 degree angle

When using Z brush, you simply keep your finger on Alt and by moving the circle you set the angle of the Axis you require

I've added a picture below, as I'm finding this really hard to explain. I want the axis to follow the pink line in the top picture so it looks the same as the Zbrush below

hmm, if you work out what I mean from the above, I'll give you a gold star, if you anwser it, you get 2

    Regards

    Pete

  • For a bone, if you turn on Auto Align in the Joint Editor option menu (right-click>Align>Auto Align Node) and move the end point (the red cross-hairs) the bone will track the position. However, that doesn't work for single, isolated nodes. Right-click>Align>Align Node and the Orientation sliders in Tool Settings do work to change the object axes, but that isn't as interactive.
