Where to put non-Daz content?

Should I just create a separate runtime folder and add it to the places Daz Studio will look for content if I want to add some content I didn't buy from Daz?

I have Poser 2012, but I haven't installed it. I wasn't sure if it was compatible with Windows 8.1 and now Windows 10. I see they have a newer version, but I'm happy with Studio so I think I will just use it.

Thanks

It's up to you whether to use separate content folders or not -- the default is to use "My Library" for non-DIM content and "My DAZ 3D Library" just for DIM content, but it's not required.

I have libraries called renderosity, runtimeDNA, and similar for other sites; also have one where I put all I customise myself. Makes backing up easier, as well as tracking down a product if it suspected of being bugged.

I also have stored content that is non-DAZ in separate folders, which I then tied into DS. I have made good experiences with that so far, i.e. when I had to move content due to the HD being close to it limit.
