Do you ever...

[Do you ever] look at a product so often that you think you own it?  Or the other way around, (you) are surprised that you own the product, because you either sleep-walked through your purchase, or it came with a package?

  • Constantly! That and going looking for something for a specific project only to realize (after hours of searching of course) that I already had the perfect thing in my Library *headdesk*

Yes! My library is a constant source of surptrise and discovery. It's a bit overwhelming.

    Yep, all the time. LOL

Every time I go into that bloody store I have to steel myself, so I don't completely blow the budget, I can speak for myself when I say, it truly is the bane of a compulsive buyer's existence! :)

  • I hear you.  I get fixated with trying to configure purchases, with promotions that are going on, for the best "deals."  I fall for the add a new-release, $5 or more, almost everytime.  I end up with a lot of cool products, many of which stay in the inventory without being used, and forgotten a sale or two later.

The former, no. The latter, yes... blush

Yes! Especially during bigger sales or after flash sales that required a quick purchase while actually doing something else (you know, the "I'll just take a quick break from what I'm working on and have a peek at the Daz store" case... ;) ).

No, no, no! I've been good. Ok, mostly good. And probably only because my wallet is already starving. crying

  • I do both of those all the time. All the time.

Never on the first part since I see what I already own when I look at the products page, but yes on the second since sometimes I forget about some things I have in my library. I also try to test everything right after I purchase it to see the possibilities for future use

Both.  It's really hard to remember everything that I have bought over the years, especially when vendors hop from store to store and sell the same items in different locations, or when AI buy a bundle that has an item I don't immediately need and forget about it.  On the other extreme, I've lost track of how many times I've put a sale item in my cart and had it sitting there only to find a sale stop working working properly.  Since I went through all of the aspects of a purchase except actually getting the item, my memory has become convinced that I bought something that I didn't.

tend to topic search my product library to find what I own and then to know what I have to search for in my content to actually find it

Yes. After I first joined Daz, I made a medical appointment for an  Alzheimer's checkup, but cancelled it once I realized the starter bundle I 'didn't own' was included in the pro bundle I had already purchased. laugh

These are usually very low priced and tempting to rebuy during the Christmas sale. So far I've avoided the repurchases, but certainly have done a few blinks of the eye, shakes of the head and a double check or two on the odd fantasy bundle offered as unowned, despite me owning the mega bundle.

  • Yep and yep - the latter can be a nice surprise laugh

I've been buying stuff here since 2005. I have tons of stuff I don't remember buying at all. Including a heap of stuff I bought for Genesis 3 in a failed attempt to migrate from Poser to Studio. I later did migrate in 2017, so I have used some of them.

...one of the good things here is they flag a product you purchased. as well as what's ever on your wishlist.

  • Look at/see a product so often that I convince myself that I own it?  I don't remember that ever happening.

Forget or never really knew that I owned something? Frequently.  It's almost always items from an old Pro Bundle or  Platinum Club/Daz+ Anniversary Bundle that I didn't really want, so the items have never been downloaded, installed, tested, or used.

Yep, I do both very often.  There's stuff I've bought over the last year that I totally forgot about.  I usually buy when I have certain characters in mind that I need assets for, but some deals are so good that I go nuts and buy more than I intended because "well this deal might not come around again for a long time."  I'm going through that now after the last major sale.  There's so much stuff I bought that I forgot about.

And ooooh the amount of times I've looked for something I didn't own yet.  I kept thinking I had Mesh Grabber.  Nope.  It's still on the wishlist.  Woops.

A few times I haven't bought something when I thought I had. More lately than ever because I go back & forth now on which product(s) to buy with my limited budget. I want value per dollar and actually having a use for the product both. Gone are the days of loading up the cart with $1.99 PC+ items, although many of those $1.99ers are still my favorite clothing sets.
