OpenGL 1.3

I installed DAZ Studio 4.8 and the program won't load telling me the it requires Opengl 1.3 when I have OpenGL 1.1. Before with another version I didn't get this error. Anybody have any ideas?

    What are your computer specs?

If you had checked the system requirements before installing you would have seen OpenGL requirement for this version

    • Hardware accelerated OpenGL 1.6 compatible graphics card with at least 512 MB RAM (OpenGL 2.2, or higher, compatible recommended)

I'm not even sure you have the latest version installed because it should say 1.6 instead of 1.3

There is a limit as to how many version increments you can get with update drivers.  Pretty soon it comes down to actual hardware. You will probably need to get a video adapter made during this decade

  • It's also possible that, for some reason, if you have two GPUs (a basic on-board chip and a better AMD or nVidia chip) that the system is not telling the new version of DS about the better, OpenGL-supporting, chip. Did you install in a different way (DIM vs stand-alone)? Is this a Production build with previous versions being Public Betas, or vice versa?

If your using windows then update your graphic drivers, sometimes windows update screws them up and leaves you using the basic drivers that come with your OS, which is usually OGL 1.1

Which version did you upgrade from?

  • I have just tried to open Daz Studio 4.9 which I last used on the 12th of this month (its now the 16th) and now get a similar message I have not updated Daz Studio so how come it

worked ok then and not now..??  Anyone having the same problem..??

    Did Windows "update" your drivers?

My computer froze/hung a few days ago, and when it rebooted (and updated), Poser wouldn't start due to an apparently corrupted Visual Studio DLL file.  I fixed that by copying the DLL file from my unaffected tablet, but now DS 4.9 is giving me this problem even though it's worked just fine before.  God, I loathe Windows Updates!  I've tried re-installing my NVidia drivers and re-installing DS.  So far, nothing's worked.

  • Windows updates often kill any good OpenGL drivers and replace it with rubbish, there is almost no existing driver today that would give you 1.1 support, you do get OpenGL 1.1 if the driver does not work and it falls back on software driver.

Check if any updates to OpenGL was made, if you have, try to find a new driver and install it, updates usually also creates a restore point in Windows so you can go back to how it was before the update.

Some laptops and computers with built in OpenGL hardware maybe not be compatible with Windows 10.
