Desperately seeking child sitting on mother's lap pose for G8F...I've tried generic searches: mother and child, sitting on lap, not to avail...the scene I'm putting together has the daughter sits on her mom's lap as her mama comforts her...

Create a group, and then you can move the group, and another way is just to drag the baby into the Actor. Or buy this Baby Mine Poses for Genesis 8 | Daz 3D
There are a number of family sets available here at Daz but several are for V4, K4 etc. However if you have the free pose converters they can easily be converted to poses for G8. Just do a search on "family" and several will pop up in the store.
I checked my library based on a few I remembered with a mother and child, one is for Gen 3 F and Gen 2 F, which could be moved up. Another might morph your characters, so be careful. The other is for Tobyn and G8F. None have exactly what you describe but have poses close to it and the child and parent might be moved with and then adjusted with PowerPose.

Just in case you not knowing it: you CAN pose figures yourself quite easily...
I only have scenes of a standing mother holding a baby child but if you need help getting most of the way to a seated mother holding a child or a seated mother and child seated in her lap than I recommend you look at several of the musical instrument products in the DAZ3D.com store as many of them are seated with the musician holding an instrument you can pretend is the child. Now just replace the instrument with the child and adjust the pose to have the child and mother seated as appropriate.
That is how I do most poses I do is use similar poses from other sets as it saves about 90% of the work and modifying them is so easy.
I know that was a naughty little dig but I tend to agree: for complex poses like this, I find it is easier to start from scratch and create the pose myself rather than attempt to modify some pose set that might seem similar at first glance. There are issues of figure size and shape because most commercial poses are created with "standard" Genesis figures, not children or plus-sized or any of the myriad of shapes we have in the real world.
There is one pose in this set that might help https://www.daz3d.com/holiday-portrait-poses. Note that here it is an adult sat on the knee of another adult, so you will have to adjust the pose depending on the size of the child.
Okay, I found this: NG Compassion and Empathy Poses for Genesis 8 and 8.1
Here's a sample:
Not really naughty, I'd say... a bit teasing mayhaps. And I used the to show where it came from
