Happy Thanksgiving, Americans.  Canadians celebrate in October.  Pausing during the harvest season to give thanks for life's blessings is good.

And it happens to be my birthday today, so...

    You are welcome, America.

The original poster couldn't find it in the commons, but I'd put a post up saying "Happy Day Before Black Friday" because I thought that's how we're saying it 'round here, with Black Friday Weekend sales and such.... :D

    Thanks Sfariah and thanks @Diomede!

Thanks to the Pequots for their tradition and all the turkeys for their tastiness (especially when brined with a cup of sugar and a cup of salt for 24 hours).

Thanksgiving as observed in the USA and Canada goes back to 1621.  Of course, harvest festivals are more general even than that and go back thousands of years.  And you can celebrate my birthday.  See article at link.

I make artisans' butter. Last year I made 4 pounds. Unfortunately, my Wife made a  mistake with it and threw it out. Using Sage, Rose Mary, and Thyme. I cannot make it with the help of Sodium chloride from the sea, and we all know where fish poop, not to mention the sperm whales

We grow food using cow poop. God made dirt. Dirt don't hurt. Put it in your mouth and let it work!

I'm thankful for @McGyver and the humor he brings to every thread!

    Aw, thanks!

But, by the way dirt does hurt...
Especially when you fall on it from a sufficient height... or enough of it falls on you...  especially if it's packed into in bags... and it's a little moist... or it's a hard packed, sun baked road made of it and your motorcycle goes down on it... or its frozen and you slide off the roof and land on it mostly headfirst (yes, that explains a lot, but that's just a drop in the bucket of head injuries)... or when you are ten years old and your stupid friend throws a petrified clump of it at you and it hits you in the eye...

Lots of stuff that seems pretty soft can hurt... water for example... especially when it's frozen can hurt... or if you are a friend who is around fourteen years old and involved in an ongoing game of practical jokes and you place an ordinary benign plastic bucket filled with water over a doorway and don't take the time to understand that you are trying to dump the water on the other person, not stun them with a twenty pound /9 kg weight dropped from above.
In that case the water is what causes most of the pain... the rest being the rough concrete stairs you fall down because you didn't expect to get pummeled from above (though in all honesty I have always expected some form of divine pummeling from above at some point, so in a way it's on me for letting my guard down)...

Anything soft that's soaked in water and frozen can hurt... try having a frozen pillow fight and see if anyone survives...

And forget real turkeys attacking you, frozen ones are worse... especially when you go through a lot of trouble making it fit in the basement freezer which no one but you ever goes down to (apparently because of the cave crickets that "guard" it) and then someone rearranges everything to get some frozen peas, which were in the upstairs freezer all along, right in front, but were apparently too obvious to be seen and that rearranging involved shoving said frozen turkey back in so that the moment any unsuspecting idiot opens the door it would come launching out seeking toes to land on... it's like the Spanish Inquisition... nobody ever expects it.

Even cute things like hedgehogs hurt if you accidentally sit on them (I didn't do that, but someone I knew sat down too hard on a sofa next to one and that didn't go well)... (the hedgehog was fine though).

In fact I believe the cuter something is the more dangerous it probably is, because most likely it's a trap of some sort... like if you are going through the woods and you see the most adorable little pikachu creature with the biggest most loving eyes and cutest little helpless call, that there is no way in hell something that cute could have survived in the forest for long than fifteen minutes without something eating it, do the math and run away as fast as you can.

I don't trust red pandas for that exact reason... they are up to some dark shizznit and we are all too beguiled by their adorableness to see it.

I digressed there a bit on dirt hurting...

Its a day late, but I tried to post this yesterday and the forums kept freezing, but it's nice to know my dumbness makes someone smile.

    Cheers!

All of that is why Sea salt tastes so good. One-third of our oceans are made of this. Does Whale Sperm make the ocean salty? - TimesMojo and minerals and fish poop, mammals waste (US), and them, I don't; know where seals and creatures like seals. Seagulls help also, and I could go all day. About birds

Mine is mainly I wake up—deal with things that need to be done. I am pretty sure my last words will be. Well, that didn't work.
