Can't stop dForce simulation?

When I'm doing a dforce simulation I can't make it stop. I click 'Cancel' and it acts like it stopped, the box disappears, then it pops back up and the percent hasn't changed, it just carries on as if I hadn't cancelled. The only way I've been able to cancel is to close DS. Is this normal? Am I missing something?

Are you doing this after an explosion?

I don't think so... I've never had an explosion?

  • Is it actually simulating, or is it reporting a lot of spring lengths shorter than the minimum offset?

  • Eventually it finishes, sometimes the simulation isn't satisfactory, like maybe more gravity would make it look better, or something like that, but yes it does simulate.

This is what I does for me during simulation. I tend to simulate over a timeline of from a pose. I think "stop" means "finish the stage you are currently working on, then stop". That can take a while.

I'd be interested to know if others get an instant response, as I assumed it was just how it worked. I suppose I find it a little irritating, but it's not a huge issue in my case.

  • I haven't tried using the timeline yet. If it wouldn't stop for 30 frames it would have my computer busy for several days.
