what am I getting the dots?

When my photo renders I get a lot of dots. Why are they there and how do I get rid of them?
Thanks

  • It's because of the lighting setup and the reflection of the wall texture. You can negate it for the most part by rendering in very high resolution and afterwards downsizing the render by 50%, you can hardly see those dots then. If you can't use high resolution then you could adjust the wall texture and get rid of the reflection.

  • If you have any mesh lights between camera and target, move them out of the camera's sight. The nearly invisible mesh of a mesh light can produce white dots.

  • In addition to the above (with extra fingers pointed at Ramon because lighting is the main culprit) I'd also suggest to look at your render settings. Iray provides some very solid noise filters which can also help to make "difficult environments" still quite useful.
