I was trying fruitlessly to locate something from one of yesterday's promos on Google
but honestly it is too unimportant to risk
yes
That is, unfortunately, not how security vulnerabilties work. Anything your browser knows about you is at risk.
In this case, the security vulnerability is that the certificate exprired. It's basically like most of the non e-commerce internet was not that many years ago.
Kind of like the Daz Documentation Center is now http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php
Heeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyy-

With a very long stick....
LOL!!!!!
Yeah, I noticed that yesterday or so, too. What the flipping heck is going on with Whatever3D right now? 0o
NO SNOOPING!
At first I read the tab as "no spooning".....
"SPOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooon....!!!" --The Tick
"There IS no spoon." --that kid from The Matrix.
I am just bummed it's on the fritz!
I went to WhoIs.com to look up Whatever3D.com ownership, and apparently the domain expires 2021-05-16, basically a bit more than a month from now.
https://www.whois.com/whois/whatever3d.com
I had gone in there halfway expecting someone else had snapped up the domain name without knowing what the website was before, and then got annoyed when bazillions of people kept showing up and re-re-refreshing the page or something, but apparently nothing changed in the registry since a year ago next month. 0o
I get this:
www.whatever3d.com
Don't go poking about.
What was Whatever3d? Can't tell from the page now.
Search for Poser Content across the Poserverse!
http://web.archive.org/web/20180610034817/http://www.whatever3d.com/
Look at the list which sites where indexed - quite impressive.
Yes, it was a very valuable search engine that crawled only the sites that had Daz Studio and Poser products, and some that had stuff that could be easily brought into Poser or Daz Studio (i.e. pure OBJ files that could be imported), which is why I keep hoping it comes back, or that someone else makes a similar, dedicated-to-this search engine.
Sorry, guys. I turned it off.
It was costing me $200-300/month depending on use to host that and threednd.com. I'm not working right now and in 6 years nobody put a single penny into my Patreon. Seriously, not one cent. Not even a wooden dogecoin. Nada. I have gotten maybe $100 in paypal donations in the last 3-4 years, almost all of that from the ShareCG link according to analytics.
So it's pointing at a holding page because I still own the URL, but I cannot affort to host the sites.
I have auto-renew on. The godaddy part isn't the problem. $15 a year or whatever it is, I can do. $200-300 a month I can't.
How about sending me some luck. I bought a lottery ticket today and the draw is tonight. I wouldn't mind donating for a year if I win, I don't even need to win the big amount, one of the extra's is more then enough for me...lol
Lol. OK if you win and pay for the site, I have a copy. I'd need to refill the elasticseardch DB though, but it was due for a purge probably.
Well I will be checking my ticket either later today or tomorrow since I have to go shopping with my son then. Here's hoping.
What is the Patreon Address?
Sorry Dodger, didn't win the lottery, however I did win a free ticket plus bought one and now have 8 sets of numbers. Since no one won, the amount is still $70 million but now has 29 chances, instead of 18, to win $1 million. I still need luck lol I have no luck with lotteries, it's why I rarely buy them...lol
Pwiecek, you might try messaging him to ask, might see it sooner that way.
I really am expecting economics will improve SOMEtime in the next few months... and that at some point in the not-too-far-away future, it will be much easier financially to keep a place like Whatever3D up and running. DO please keep those DB backups stored somewhere recoverable, Dodger, there IS light at the end of the tunnel.
There isn't one anymore. After six years, I not only gave up, but I kind of don't trust Patreon themselves, because I'm not sure if really nobody had donated or if Patreon lied about it.
But if you look me up on ShareCG you can find a paypal donate button
That was a very relied upon piece of software, at least on my end. I use it to catalog my Runtime. I'm sad to see it go.
Any chance on sharing the specifics of the backend and DB? I used to be a LAMP stacker at an aggregate database company and would love to see how you implemented the search. Maybe in hopes to see the site relive again if it is financially beyond you now. Just a thought but wow, that was a marvel of a site...
