Can't get update base geometry working

So I was trying to fit the clothes onto the genesis character and run into some problems. The clothes was designed to genesis character with basic female morph to 1. I tried directly fit the clothes on to the character, it doesn't fit. And I saw this post:

http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/30058/baking-morphs-to-a-new-zero-state

And it seems exactly what I want to do. However after I export the morphed character (with basic female dial to 1) into obj file and try update my genesis base character using update base gemoetry, it always reports: " The loaded gemetry does not match the geometry it is updating. Vertex and facet count must be the same."

The obj file that I'm using is exported from morphed genesis in daz, and it doesn't make sense to me. Yeah, it's been a headache..

Make sure you have the figure set to base resolution/Zero SubD before exporting.

Couple of things to be aware of ;-

This will permanently replace the mesh in the main DSF asset file as it's importing.

It will not adjust the rig to suit the new shape, so it will bend poorly.

None of the existing morphs will work the same as they now have a different start point.

Only clothing you make for this shape will actually fit.

  • Thanks! It worked!!

Can I edit surface zones? Will morphs still work, if I add a new surface zone (e.g. a new sleeve surface to a shirt)?

Yes, morphs depend on the vertex order which isn't affected by polygon groups such as surfaces.
