Deleting custom presets and scenes.

I am having trouble deleting unwanted character presets and scenes. Can anyone tell how to go about doing that without being left with thumbnails with yellow borders in smart content?

    I'm not sure if it's in 4.0, but in 4.5 there's a command in the Content DB Maintenance dialogue to remove orphaned references - you can open the dialogue by going to the Content Library pane and right-clicking on the tab or clicking the menu button at the top corner and selecting it from the menu.
