Genesis 9 anatomical elements gone after update

edited December 2022 in Daz Studio Discussion

I just did an update via the IM, and my Genesis 9 anatomical elements are missing, the materials are still there but no models. Since we had to buy them, I would like to know why they have been removed. Thank you.

They have 2 products with similar names.

The anatomical weapons are in: https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-9-starter-essentials-expansion

And that expansion pack is also included in: https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-9-essential-shapes-bundle

I just updated and took a look. I can see gens In the Vic 9 folder, and the Anatomical elements in Gen 9>Anatomy>Daz Originals>Base Anatomy.

    Still there for me also.

Sure you aren't looking in the wrong folder?

  • The anatomical elements had a stand along folder in the smart contents, I checked the other two, hoping they might have just moved them, but no. Tomorrow I'll try reinstalling them, and see if the come back. Thanks

Ok, I see what you are talking about.

When the G9 is selected the gens don't show in the Smart Content, just a bunch of eyebrows and the other aattachments.

Yes, you are correct. I'm not seeing it in there either.

They haven't been removed, they just aren't showing in the database for some reason.

You can still find them in the Anatomy folder found here People>Genesis 9>Anatomy>Base Anatomy

    Reimporting the metadata fixes it.

Right click the "Smart Content" tab.

    Select "Content DB Maintenance"

    Check the box "Re-Import metadata"

    Click "Accept"

Check "User Data" boxes at the top if you have them and "All Products".

    Click "Accept".

This will take a little while if you have a lot of content.

If one is using 'smart' content, one should get used to the idea that the 'updates' to metadata that DAZ Connect does constantly, are bound to break things every once in a while.

  • Ok, I did an uninstall/reinstall through the IM, and both anatomical elements have returned. Thanks for the help yes.

For those that did not know here is a quicker way to reimport metadata without even opening Daz Studio.

Go to the Daz Install Manager and select the Installed Tab.

Tick the items you wish to reimport the metadata for.

Right click on the hamburger icon (found under sort order at the top of the page). You can click anywhere on the page but I find right clicking the hamburger icon prevents misclicking.

You can then left click on re-import metadata and select the asset (if reimporting one, all selected, or all missing). This will then re-import the metadata you select without impacting your abilty to keep using Daz Studio.

Hope this tip is helpful - David

  • Thanks David.

Okay as a follow up, I now see that the Genesis 9 Starter Essentials Expansion, list the geometry for anatomical elements, and this was the package that updated. I bought the G9 anatomical elements as a seperate package within hours of its release, and it still lives in that folder, and not in the Espansion.

As of today, still no problems. Thank you all.
