Perspective View for posing and Default Camera for Rendering?

PetraPetra Posts: 1,156

I am using DS since 2005 and only today I asked myself the question if using perspective View for creating a scene and then switching to Default Camera to render it?

I never really paid much attention to it and now that I do, I am puzzled.

How do you do it?

I'm not sure I understand your question.

    Hi :)

When I open DS, by default the perspective View is selected and so far, I changed it to default view before actually loading anything in the Scene.

Now I am wondering if I do it the right way.

Do I set up my scene with the perspective View in the Camera options and then only change to default camera when I render?

You can set up your scene with the perspective view and then create a new camera and choose the option 'Copy Active View <Perspective>. It's often helpful though to have a few cameras set up so that you can look at your scene from different angles.

One characteristic that I like about using the perspective view is that it's not included in the undo stack. Any changes made to the perspective view as you edit are not effected by undoing any editing that you've done, if that makes sense.

Do you also leave it in perspective View when you render the scene?

I don't get a default camera when I load a new scene, but typically I'll work almost exclusively in perspective view right up until I'm ready to render.

No. I always use the view from an actual camera when I render. Perspective view is just for set up IMO

I only use the perspective camera for setting up cameras and lights

I always render through cameras so that I can use DOF, and also so I can return to the exact view later on.
