Is [the Defaults button on the Render pane] this button broken? I couldn't get it to do anything. I was having a problem and I wanted to reset the Render settings, but when I clicked it, nothing happened. As I recall, when I clicked it in the past, it would even reset the image size. But not anymore. No matter how many times I press it, nothing changed.

  • Which, if any, values have non-default values? Size should not, I think, be changed.

    I am using DS 4.21.0.5.

It looks like nothing in the General section of Render Settings is affected by the Defaults button.

Tone Mapping and Environment sections are not reset by the Defaults button, either. To reset those two, just delete the Tonemapper Options and Environment Options nodes from the Scene pane, New default nodes will be created when you start rendering in Iray. Or you can and them manually from the Create menu.

  • You could also select the the two options nodes and use Edit>Object>Restore>Restore Selected Item(s)

I am using the latest version of Daz Studio. I was using a small room by santuziy78. I loaded the cameras and lights that came with it. I had hidden the one wall. When my scene was ready to render, I switched to iray preview and scene was bright and very blurry. I thought it was the render settings. It had switched to sun & Sky one of the environment settings was set to 20 and tone mapping was set to 11. I tried using the Defaults button to reset the render settings, but nothing seem to change. I manually reset the environmental setting back to one. I thought the default value of tone mapping was 13 so I manually set it as well. Then I used alt clcik to reset everything else to it's default value. When that didn't help, I finally realized that the reason my scene was blurry was because the camera had DOF tunred on and my figure was out of the zone.

Thanks. I didn't know I could delete those two nodes. Or reset them.

I don't use the Defaults button very often. And I think the last time I used it, it reset most things. But maybe my memory is faulty. Of course back then I don't think we had those two nodes.

  • Camera Depth of Field is not a render setting anyway, so that would not be expected to reset even through the option nodes..
