Can't save as .dsf

I have Luna loaded into my scene (tried 4.6 and 4.8), load in a grouped clothing object and use the transfer utility to transfer rigging and weight mapping (per instruction here:  http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/creating_content/rigging/tutorials/transfer_utility/start

It says to save your work as Save As .dsf.  I do not get these options in my 'Save As' popup in 4.6 nor 4.8.  Any clue what I'm doing wrong?

  • File>save as>Support Assets>Figure prop Asset. The Author and product names determine where the actual asset files go - \Data\Author\Product\Item - then you will get a file browser to set the location of the user file - usually the Clothing sub-folder of the character under People.

Thanks Richard.  I tried using a lot of the options but not sure that I tried that one.  When I did try one I was not always sure what to do next.  Much appreciated.  Hoping I can get this to work.

Um, I see now that I had tried File>save as>Support Assets>Figure Prop Asset but I need to save as .dsf and the only option it gives me is .duf.

The Data files get saved as .dsf, the user-facing preset to load it is .duf

So if I save it as .duf the program will create the .dsf in the data file?  Wonderful, I got it now.  Thank you, thank you both.

One more question about saving as a figure/prop asset.  The tutorial in the above link shows no options checked but during the saving inside of DS4.8 Save As Figure/Prop Asset the popup comes up with many options checked marked.  Which is correct?

The default options in 4.8 are correct.

    Have another question...

The Transfer Utility has many options checked.  I found that importing un-grouped objs worked best with it as I got breaks in my pieces when I used pre-grouped objs that could be fixed by dialing up the smoothing modifier.

Can someone tell me what options should be unchecked so that I can use my pre-grouped objs?  I'm asking  because I have 30 obj morphs for one of the pieces and it won't work with the ungrouped objs that is use with the transfer utility with default settings.  I really don't want to have to remake all the morphs for each piece of clothing.

I did try unchecking some of the default options, using pre-grouped objs and running the transfer utility but all the pieces I made still needed the smoothing modifier dialed up to stop the breaking at the seams.

Options on the Transfer Utility include:

    weight maps

    selection maps

    face groups

    region groups

    (Morph targets I uncheck)
