Hair color won't work with dForce hair

There's at least 2 dforce hair styles I bought that won't change color. They're dForce long fliphair for G8 and the other is dForce Kay Hair. They load in the default color, black. Can't get anything else to work. I bought a few more today but haven't checked them yet. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Which version of Daz Studio? There have been some changes (bug fixes) in the way that Iray handles top-coat and some hairs use that, so their appearance has potentially changed (Daz did add some changes of its own to try to ameliorate the effect)

with iray viewport on, did you click? (see image)

for some reason even with hidden parameters on, the usual tricks did not work. Had to click this.  In texture drawstyle no color.

Personally still stay away from all SBH hair products.  But am an April fan and every once in a while buy one to see if anything new.  So happened to have Kay Hair.  This product IMO is just suitable for 1 portrait and i have one of the best pc setups available.  Just too system intensive yet.

Edit.  Just saw richards post. still on beta 4.16.1.43 myself.

I only have the Longflip hair and it seems that the texture preview shows a VERY basic version of the colour applied, the iRay preview only shows the hair as black - however when you do the actual render the colours do work as expected.

    This is on 4.21.0.5

Richard, I believe I have the latest version of Daz. I always update when it's available.

Saxa, I'll have to try that option.

Sofa, having to render to see the color just ain't right. I've ignored some other hair products because the color looks greasy.

Thansks, everyone, for the feedback. I'm going back to try out your suggestions.

UPDATE: yep, those did the trick. Thanks again everyone. (Now I have to try to remember the extra steps.)
