FStop feature missing

Suddenly FStop (camera settings) has disappeared from Render Settings? Anyone know why? Is it another glitch caused by downloading the wrong product?

Should this not be on camera object setting?

  • fStop is available on cameras (to control depth of field) and in the Tone Mapping settings (to cotnrol exposure). Unlike a real camera it is possible to set them independently.

The Tone mapping options in Render Settings will not bea vailable until the is a Tonemapper Options node in the scene. You can add onee xplicitly from the Create menu, or just do an Iray render on use the Iray or Filament Drawstyle.

There are two F-Stop settings. The one in render settings controls exposure but doesn't attect depth of field. The one on the camera object controls depth of field and I don't think it affects exposure. I've still got both, the render settings one is in the tonemapping section, but I'm still using Studio 4.20.

If you haven't got a tonemapper options object in your scene you may need to create one to get F-Stop in render settings.

You don't need to use the F-Stop setting in render options. F-Stop, shutter speed and film ISO are there for people who want to use setting like a real camera but they only affect exposure, not depth of field, motion blur and film grain like in a real camera. You can get the same effect just by adjusting the exposure value slider.

  •  Got it. Help from all reply posts. Thanks to all.

I always struggled with Daz camera settings, especially FStop, because they didn't behave as expected. Fortunately, I now use IG Photographer's Toolbox cameras, and my camera settings do what a photographer would expect, mostly.
