best poly count to model shoes

best poly count to model shoes

I know shoes or any clothing should be modeled in low poly but is there a number that someone can use for shoes so they do not put too many or little polys in for the rigged shoe to work best?

thanks

Why not just look at some similar shoes you own that you think work well? The Scene Info pane in Daz Studio will tell you how many polygons they use at Base Resolution and at subD (if it uses High Resolution).

model in lo poly, keep a saved version safe and sub-d until you find somehing that renders the way you like. I usally end up  with 2 or 3 levels of sub-d, they have no visible impact on my renders with a 1660ti

the 2 shoes i have i like are not even low in poly, they do not conform to the foot when bent, but is there a rule like 150 faces for example, im guessing if the shoe is too hbigh poly it will not be able to conform or at least the more low poly the better it will conform, is that sound correct?

StratDragon when you say low poly can you give me a number, and the sub d is  done in the modeling program or applied in daz? with daz you can only apply one time or there is a setting where daz lets you go 2-3 levels?

    thanks

I found the video and his shoes are in wire frame so the mesh shows how low poly to go

he just does the sub d in daz one time so i know what to do

    thanks
