When you add a car it becomes apparent that you have to adjust G9 because the other characters fit to the car in terms of size.

A 200cm person and a 150cm person can drive the same car IRL.  I don't know what kind of shots you're doing, whethere's it's a narrative like a VN or you're doing strictly one-offs, but if you really pay attention to real photos and movies, everybody is different sizes. Differences are made up for with shoes, setting people at different levels, or better camera angles. Why should using Daz be any different?

    Yes, I know that.

It's not that all previous Daz characters are the same size. Victoria 8 was much to tall. Victoria 8.1 had a realistic size, and Victoria 9 is smaller. With longer arms. And massive shoulders.

My opinion is that Genesis 9 does not meet my expectations and I have enough content to ignore it.

I bought Victoria 9, Michael 9 and the face and body morphs and got some items like Corey because the dForce Bob Style hair was cheaper in the Bachelor and Bachelorette bundle than standalone. I will not buy items that are G9 only.

You are all entitled to different opinions and may buy as many G9 items as you like.

    Sales will tell.

Well, not really. Because we will never know about sales numbers :)

  • I'm simply spending money on G9 to support the artists and developers. I prefer G8 thu V4. Like some have stated the chest on G9 looks ok on the males but on the females it looks horrible. It look like plastic surgery gone wrong. We need a G9 breast and nipple geograph to correct this. We also need a geograph that replaces the hip and sholder areas so we have more natural bends and fills in those areas. There really needs to be two figures for all daz characters one for posing just standing with simple geometry and one for doing yoga that is more complex. The current G9 is ok for standing but for everything else it looks like taffy that has been bent  too much! Maybe Genesis 10 will be better. I hope.

That's been my experience as well.

If stuff was modelled to accomodate tall characters, isn't that pretty much proof that they were too tall? If a table with real life scale looks too small next to G8 then apparently the perception of the artist was that this table doesn't look right at the original size. So is the solution then to keep the wrong scale or to fix the actual problem?

Stuff was not modelled to accomodate tall characters, it was modelled to accomodate existing characters. I personally don't find G8 too tall, I find G9 too short. So from where I'm standing, nothing was fixed. The opposite actually.

But even if you're on the other side of the fence, is the trade-off worth it? For what? To match some numbers? That's the equivalent of "Oh, let's break all poses to rename bones according to some standards that don't really matter at all to 99% of the customers."

When was the last time you looked at a render, and actually noticed something wrong with the height of the characters?

But it matters a lot. While I love tall characters many settings have stuff either way too big or small. Daz measure metrics exists so they can find ways to measure props. The scale slider works too but it's nice to have accurate measurements. Then it's easier to match everything better if there's something to compare to
