Hi,
Just wanted to ask when will there be real m1 support for rendering? Or is that pushed towards DS5? Still wondering when that is going to happen, as that topic is pages long and consists of everything expect any news about 5.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers!

At this point we don't know if the m1 GPU will be used in the near future, but if it is (but probably won't) it won't be until DAZ Studio 5 is released. We have been told at one point that DAZ Studio 5 uses Metal, but that may just be that it's needed as a back-end to supply the Filament rendering engine to the Mac platform.

Rendering is handled by third-partyu engines, 3Delight and Iray built-in and others via additional plug-ins. So to answer this you would, in the first instance, need to go to the developer of the engine you use.
An exciting leak was just announced that Apple is indeed trying to make an improved GPU with ray tracing hardware. The first attempts failed due to an engineering mistake, lots of techs left to (ahem) persue other interests, Apple joined Blender and now it looks like things are about to move again. Fingers crossed.
