Daz Crow Familiar Poses

Hello, I just bought the Daz Crow and the Familiar Poses, but none of the poses will allow the wings to fold down to a resting position.
They seem to all be outspread and flying.
The poses change, but the wings never fold in for me.
Wondered if anyone else had experienced this?
Thanks, D.

There is a slider for that in the Parameter Tab :)

  • Thank you so much Petra!!
I bought the Familiar Poses and The Crow at the same time and hadnt checked into what the crow could do on its own.
    Thank you again.  :)

    You are very welcome.

It took me a while to find it myself.  Haha

  • I see what you mean. Its still very difficult to animate though.
Im trying to do a simple anim and the wings are either in or out. :(
I did better with Noggin's Crow, but thanks for your help. :)

If you expand the joints you can find the individual bones and adjust their bending etc.

  • Expand the joints? If you mean move the individual parts of the wings, Ive tried that and its very time consuming and not giving a great result.
I bought the extra poses hoping I could move from one to the next to create an animation, but each seperate pose make the crow jump six feet away, or face in a different direction which isnt really what anyone would want.
I'm pleased I bought them in a sale, wasting the full price money would be an insult in my view.
But thank you for the reply. D

@dshield I just went to start trying to animate Daz Crow and immediately found the same problems. There are solutions, though...

The "Fold Wings" On/Off Control toggles Parameter Sliders that are Hidden by default. That may be all you need to know, but just in case you or anyone else needs a little more info, here's a series of steps and accompanying images. Don't take offense at the rudimentary pointing out of every detail, it's just so that anyone of any skill set could follow if need be...

    A) Select Daz Crow in the Scene Tab, then:

     1. Select the Parameters Tab.

     2. Left Click the Options Button.

     3. Select "Show Hidden Properties"

    B) In the Parameters Pane:

     1. Select "Hidden"

Now the 3 Sliders that make the Wings Fold should be at the top of the list to the right. Do as shown below for each:

     2. Click the Settings Cog for the first Slider.

     3. Choose "Parameter Settings..."

    C) In the Settings Popup, Uncheck "Hidden"

    D) Once Youve done all 3 Sliders, focus the mouse over each Slider so that the "Options" appear and Click the Favorite Heart for each.

    E) Now if you select Favorites in the Parameters Pane, those Sliders will be readily available and Animatable. YAY!!

Of course, you can look through and play with all of the Hidden Sliders and see if you'd like to do the same for any others that aren't represented by normal Sliders that might be handy.

Keep in mind these changes will only be in effect in the current Scene assuming you Save it, though you can also select the Daz Crow in the Scene Tab and Save it as a Scene Subset (uncheck anything else that might be in the Scene when you go through the Scene Subset Popup) and then you will have a version of the Crow saved this way that you can load into any other scenes that might already exist, or into any new Scene without having to go through this process again.

Also, if you like any of the Pre-made "Familiar Poses" and want to be able to use them more easily, you could apply each one in turn and in the Scene Tab, go to the Daz Crow's Pelvis Bone and all Transforms that move the Crow to an undesired location are made there. If you Zero those Sliders in the Parameter Pane, it will be back to "0,0,0", then you could Save each one as a Pose Preset so that you'd have your own customized versions of the poses that won't Translate the Crow's location.

Ask any questions if necessary and good luck animating!

Also, if you press control (or shift?) and right click a pose, a prompt pop-up will give you a choice to turn off translation for the figure, and the pose will be applied in place.

  • Thank you for mentioning this! I've seen it mentioned in the past but completely forgot about it! Though massively useful in general, more importantly it also gave me the idea to uncheck Translations in the Pose Presets I plan to make. I'm hoping to make them as quick to apply as possible so that I can more easily test the distances between frames they need to be applied to get the look I want. Cheers!

    Omg!
I'm so sorry, I've been away from Daz and not seen these helpful comments until now.
Thank you so much for the in-depth help Phatmartino. That really helped.
And xyer, I cant get that to work but its sounds like an option I'll persevere with.
    Many Thanks once again!
