Iray Lighting Environment

I like it. And Predatron has never let me down. I wonder though about practical uses. And is it big enough to be used with UltraScenery?

I used to make lighted domes with options like this for Poser and I used them mostly for promos and even lighting for making/setting up props and things. I guess you could use it for portraits.

I have purchased it, but transaction has hanged and I am waiting for it to be resolved.

Edit: just got it - will see, if I can post some image ...

Looks nice with UltraScenery - it is well lighted, but just grey blue background.

Still cannot upload images to the forum, so you need to guess only, how it looks...

That's what I forgot! Did you render with dome visibility off? I was wondering if it worked like Ghost Lights where the light source is invisible. I guess it wouldn't be.

The light source isn't invisible, but you can easily change the color of the dome using the color picker. You can also turn cutout opacity to zero on the walls and stuff and just leave the lights, which from quick experimentation looks like it works really well alongside dimmer, less-dramatic HDRI lighting.

Here are some examples with the environment geometry off. I can see myself getting a lot of use out of it just because HDRIs and sun-sky settings can be difficult to supplement with spotlights in larger environments.

A dim HDRI with and without the environment lights on (I changed the light color slightly, so that's why it's a little purpleish):

Anyone know what that blue figure is in the promos?

Also the product is a very cool idea.

So you can render using this with a transparent background? That's awesome. Thank you for doing thest tests.

Yep! All I did was set cutout opacity to zero on all surfaces except the lights. They're all rendered with the dome off.

Happy to help! :D I always like checking out what's possible with new stuff.

I see a few familiar faces! Thanks to the comments here, I decided to try this product out. Here's a simple Ultrascenery render with and without the Iray Lighting Environment. This is using the default Iray Lightning Environment (with the non light parts set to have 0 opacity) and a misty and fairly dim Sun-Sky render setting (not a stock USC/USXT one).

Could the little guy be a morphed G9? Regardless, he/she is adorable.
