The Black House Base and DIM

For general information. I've filed a ticket on this, but it was suggested I note it in the forums as well, so that other people know about it when they run across it. This problem will affect anyone trying to install The Black House Base using the Install Manager.

I'll spare you the forty minutes I spent looking into the issue and just say that the Manifest.dsx file in the installation .zip file has bad information. DIM doesn't just "install whatever's in the zip directories," it has to use the manifest file to tell it what to install. There are many files which the manifest is looking for under a path Content/Environnement/Architecture ... notice the French spelling 'environnement' there, that's key.

The actual directory structure in the .zip file is Content/Enivronment/Architecture ... so none of the files under that will get installed. If you do try to install the product using DIM you will find that the /data/ files get installed, the /runtime/textures/ files get installed, but the /environment/architecture/ ones do not.

The same error occurs further down the subdirectory tree ... though the installer never gets there ... for example, this file in the manifest

is cursed TWICE ... the actual path in the .zip structure is

Content/Environment/Architecture/3D Style/The Black House/House and Environment/...

We'll see if someone manages to go in and correct Manifest.dsx in all the necessary places. Meanwhile, you can install the product perfectly well by hand if you feel up to it, though of course this does throw DIM out of step and will cause problems with your ability to update or uninstall it via DIM later. I don't have a right-this-minute need so I'm going to wait a few days before doing that, to see if Daz fixes the install instead.

    Thanks for this. Didn't quite make it to 40 minutes, but I did think I was going insane.

    Thought The Black House would be an easy thing to load and look at before having an early night, but the frustration woke me up.

    Seems to have been withdrawn from sale now. It's supposed to be part of a series, so hopefully it will be back, with the issues sorted, before the next parts are released.

    I was looking forward to a collection like "Dream Home" that was one of the first things I collected when I first got Daz a couple of years ago.

    It's still in the catalogue, but no longer shown in New Releases last time I looked.

    I opened up DIM this afternoon and found an update for The Black House Base. After the installation loaded, everything looked fine in D|S.

    Thanks for putting in the report @columbine and letting us know about the issue.
