Is there a trick to keep existing morphs

RAMWolffRAMWolff Posts: 10,223

I used the Transfer Utility to FIT a hair onto a different figure but when I went to dial some of the morphs for the hair MOST don't work any more.

So the question is there a specfic way to go about this?  This is for a non DAZ figure so there are no templates available to apply to this transfer.

Thanks for any help!

Put your character in the default pose. Do not autofit the hair across generations, it yeilds unflattering results.. Fit the hair manually, and then parent it to your characters head.

Hair from every gen can be used this way. It takes a little more time, but it works.

  • Did you mean Transfer Utility or AutoFit? AutoFit will preserve morphs but not pose cotnrols, such as slides for tails, as the AutoFitting will change the skeleton.

Hi Richard, no, this is for Dawn to Dawn so not a DAZ figure but when I try to use the Transfer Utility to auto rig the hair to the other Dawn it works fine but while the bang morphs work fine the pigtail morphs are no longer functional.

I also asked another question over in the DAZ Studio forum

The pigtail morphs are probably not morphs, but instead controllers for a rigged ponytail, so auto-fit (or similar uses of the Transfer Utility) will break the rigging it relies on.

Ah, interesting.  They are in dial form but you may be right.

The dials probably just rotate groups of joints - in which case, dials or no, it is rigged.
