Can I change this Wounds Colors?

I really like to use this : HD Face Wounds for Genesis 3 & 8 Female(s) | Daz 3D

But when I put it on my model I want it to be more red and not that dark , May I change it some how or it is how it is?

Thanks so much! :)

The materials are LIE, so you can go into the LIE manager and adjust the layer with the wound.

You need to click the nano-thumbnail for the current image assigned to the property you want to work on, to get the list of available images, the browse... command for llading new images, and the Layered Image Editor command.

Sorry if I didnt get it right I try to understand , I need to put the layer on my model and then do it , or I need to do it on the image layer before I put on my model?

The idea behinf LIE is that you can change it inside Daz Studio. LIE is a simplified image editing function.

An alternativ is to take the image into an image editing program and adjust it there. If so, you must select 'browse' and then browse to where you have saved the modified image.

Ok, there are two things you can do.

    Edit the textures directly:

    • If you are proficient in using a program like photoshop to edit the textures. You can access them in at the following path: (Your DAZ Library where the product is installed)/Runtime/Textures/FenixPhoenix/Face Wounds Females/G8/
    • You'll want to grab the Diffuse maps and light them up. Then you can replace these textures (though I recommend keeping a backup of the diffuse maps just in case). Applying the presets should now apply your lighter textures.

Now if you don't want to mess with the textures directly and you prefer to do it inside DAZ studio, here's what you can do (though it will be a more complex process):

    • First off, apply the light skin version of the wound(s) to your character.
    • Select the surfaces the wound/blood is affecting. It could be Face only or Face + Lips.
    • Now, in the surface tab/window (Windows > Tabs > Surfaces) click on the small image in the Base Color Channel (your diffuse map).

    • A menu should pop up and at the very top you'll see... "Layered Image Editor..." Click on that to open a new window.

    • Once there you'll see the diffuse is applied 2x for a better blend at the cost of making things a bit darker. Now that DAZ has included a bunch of new blend modes, you can grab the topmost layer and change the blend mode from "Alpha Channel Blend" to "Screen" (you could also increase the opacity from 50% to something like 80%, but it depends on how the skin settings are done, so you might need to experiment). Then click accept.

    • Now you'll have to do the same thing but with the Translucency Color Channel map. If that map is the same as the diffuse, you can simply apply your newly created map there. Otherwise, you'll have to repeat the above process here.
    • If you need to repeat the process for the translucency channel you'll notice there's only one layer for each wound. Change that to whatever Blend Mode gives you a lighter texture. It can be Screen or Hard Light. Then click accept.

You have to keep in mind that LIE is difficult because as an add-on product, we can't control the skin settings. We can only include maps in the channels where maps should normally be included and hope for the best. Our LIEs are mostly done taking into account how DAZ Core Characters have their skins set up. So for PA character skins that are set up differently, you'll have to experiment to get the best result.

In the case of my example for Pei, her skin is set up quite differently, so I'm getting a dry look for the wound right now, as you can see in the before and after below:

This is also why we ditched that approach with the Gunshot Products and went with Geoshells from then onwards. That way we could control how the wound would look and it was a more straightforward application of LIE, since it was only applied to the cutout channel.

I can't seem to upload my screenshots, so I'll upload them someplace else and edit this post to include them in a bit.

@foxyfoxfurries you're very welcome, thank you for buying our products! If you have any more questions, feel free to reach out :). I encourage you to try the different blend modes to figure out which one works best for your character. BTW, you could always also use a texture/photo editor program (like Photoshop) and apply the maps directly onto the skin maps of your character, save them as something different, and then replace them via the surface panel. For Face Wounds you only have to apply the textures to two maps: The Specular/Roughness Map and the Diffuse/BaseColor and Translucency map (which are sometimes the same or very similar, with Translucency --also sometimes known as SSS-- usually being a lighter version of the Diffuse map.

To answer your question, yes, LIE won't damage the skin because you can always take it off. If you have any of the body wound products, there's a LIE Remover script there that you can apply here as well to get rid of the LIE layers. Our Makeup sets also include one. At any rate, I'm uploading the script here for you to download. Just merge that with the DAZ 3D Library where you have the product installed. Then you'll need to use the Content Library Pane to access it. The path would be: People\Genesis 8 Female\Materials\FenixPhoenix\Face Wounds.

Now, in the following example, I'm using Millawa 8's skin (ignore the blue lines in the screenshots). First off, we'll be once again using the Layered Image Editor, but we'll try a different combination of blending modes and we'll also edit the first layer of the diffuse. So, on the surfaces tab, open up the Diffuse/Base Color Map in the Layered Image Editor after applying the wound. You'll want to change the following:

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OURqmiiFYl0oolDki1TxC9EEHzf2J768/view

Next, open up the Translucency Map in the Layered Image Editor and change that to the following values:

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZbZ2P96DGS-l9UjjK6gIbSTDD93Y8Y_j/view

That should give you a result like the following:

Now apply the Matching Blood LIE and once again you'll want to edit both the Diffuse/Base Color and the Translucency maps via the Layered Image Editor. You can do all of it at the same time by applying both the wound and the blood one after the other before messing with the Layered Image Editor. I did it this way so it's clearer when I explain. Anyways, you'll want to change those maps with the following values:

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PpFkkf1ALVNsS5X7UICWKqnqCKnLnXU-/view

And this should be the result:

My pleasure and thank for your support! And for sure we have more blood/scars/wounds products planned. And with the new blending mode options Daz has included in the latest Daz Studio versions, we will be able to ensure much better blends without sacrificing other aspects. :)
