Batch convert from 3DL to iRAY?

[Batch convert from 3DL to iRAY?] Subject is the question.  I have plenty of scripts and shaders to convert one at a time but wondering if there is either or a script or shader that can do a folder full of 3DL to iRAY?  I may already own it but it's been so long I can't remember

Thanks so much

  • Surely typing "Subject is the question" took longer than going ctrl A, ctrl C in the title box and then ctrl V in the post body?

  • I did just pick up the Advanced Material Converter because it does what you describe, I have not used it myself yet though. The two main things to keep in mind is that it doesn't work on people, clothing, and hair because those have more differences in the steps to save them that would need manual intervention, and that the files need to be in duf format. The same vendor has Legacy Set Converter that can help with getting poser files into duf format, if that is also something you are looking to do https://www.daz3d.com/legacy-set-converter .

Well seems to be a bust for me.  I've tried a couple of the scripts and I have all three of them but the one I thought was going to be the one doesn't seem to have a batch convert option...

    RSSY 3Delight to Iray Converter

The 3DL files are newly created so I don't need to convert them to .duf I just need a way to batch convert all of them from 3DL to iRAY!

  • I agree that my go-to for quick conversions is the RSSY one, but it doesn't have the quick batch capabilities.

For the Advanced Material Converter, if you tried that I was curious if you had issues with it not working, or weren't happy with the results or the amount of time it took to get it set up?

Yea, I'm too picky.  I've discovered that for things like hair I have to get in there knee deep to get the effect I need to be happy so I guess my idea of a batch conversion might have put me on a very long path.  What I LOVE about DS is that you can make a partial mat setting and load up, do a basic conversion and then apply the partial mat to fill in all the blanks and areas that need the proper tweaks.  I did this for the 3DL settings and so I'm headed down the iRAY road doing the same thing now.
