Shader Crashes DS 4.8.0.59

I have no idea if this topic has already been covered but here goes:-

On any occassion when I'm experimenting with Iray shaders and try several different shaders DS 4.8.0.59 inevitably crashes.  It may take a while after trying different shaders on the same surface possibly with some 'Undo's' but sooner or later it crashes.  This issue seems to have followed various incarnations of DS even in 3Delight and in my case on different systems with different OS's.

This is most definitely some sort of instability and needs addressing.

What do the tech guys at CS have to say about it?

To be honest, I've never bothered to pass it on, but someone probably has because I can't be the only one who has experienced this.

Unless the other people happen to think the same way you do. ;-)

The more people report it, the bigger are the chances that this isn't just considered "Single person's problem".

I have had this happen when applying shaders and I suspect it is actually one or more of the tdlmaker processes that optimizes images that is crashing and hanging Studio.  They don't seem to be too efficient and if several of them are running they quickly eat up your systems resources.  Work around is to make sure smoothing modifiers are switched off and don't try changing to many surfaces at once.

Thanks Jetsmart, now at least I know it's not just myself.  I must admit, I do tend to push my current system quite hard when using DS - often making many shader changes while viewing the difference with the main viewport set to Iray which of course is extremely resource hungry.
